how much power do you think it really can put out at 1 ohm and where did you set your gains at at what ohm?

set my gains with my o-scope, ended up being a little more than 5v with my sub level at 0, so the gain's ~55% of the way up...

that was with a 0db tone at full volume, so i can still clip the hell out of it if i turn my sub output all the way up, but i usually have the sub output @ -3 to +1 (-15 to +15 is the range)

i've got no way of knowing what the amp actually puts out, but it can rock my type-x's, which are way less efficient than the l7's, that why i think something's wrong... the amp's more than capable

also, single bass hits (like the actual beat of the song) are NASTY loud, the beat in that system of a down song, don't know the name, but lyrics are "i'm just sitting in my car and WAITING FOR MY GIRL" gets insane, but tones have less than desireable output, which makes me think it's a problem with either the port being too close to the hatch, or port area, like some of you suggested

if i told you, it'd just be a guess...

i have nothing to compare it to...

what i CAN tell you, tho, is that the power supply is mushy as hell!!! It def. doesn't do even close to rated power on sudden kicks without lots of power supply reinforcement, once i put that kinetik like 6 inches from the power input on the amp, it made a HUGE difference, tho.... Maybe that's why so many people say hifonics don't do rated...

The power supply definitely, definitely sucks, it doesn't do the amp any justice on it's own.

It still put out the same power, it just didn't kick in instantly at full tilt.... there was some mush on sudden attacks where you want instant full power, in comparison to, say an orion 2500D or a lanzar optdrive, or a jl 1000.1 which use regulated power supplies...

it's sounding fantastic now, but let's just say i spent all the $$ i saved over said amps ^^ on big wiring/extra batteries to get the instant output i wanted out of it

but let's just say it pounded the piss out of my car with those type-x's, and they're not regarded as a very easy speaker to get loud, so if it's NOT making 1800, it's **** close, definitely more than happy with it now

oh, n/m, i found a thread about it

so you'd still have to get a real bench test to find out how much power it was making at it's rated distortion... that wouldn't really help me at all, i'd have no way to know

when i bought the amp, i decided if it made at least 1600w, i'd be happy, and i've got no reason to suspect it doesnt', so i'll just keep not worrying about it and being happy, i mean for the $$$, it's still pretty hard to beat

i think my alpine type-x's may be going back in....

i think i'm gonna spend this long weekend working out my midbass issues, deaden my doors, my hatch, and work on rattles, and drop the x's back in

the l7's are sexy and all, and i'm gonna hang on to 'em for a while in case i change my mind, but the x's sounded 100% better, caused less rattles, and had a much smoother rolloff.

that could be your problem. that thing is only 2000 watts and each of those L7s can handle 2000 watts!thats only 1k per sub which isn't much, those L7s ar champs, you also need more port area on your box.

def. getting any and all potential out of my amps...

if i were gonna add another amp, tho, i don't think there's a big enough alternator for my car, that's the biggest one i could find already, plus i'd have to sell the l7's anyways and get d2's, or find someone to trade with me

for now, tho, just for the sake of having some good sounds for the 4th, i'm gonna pop the x's back in while i think it over for a few weeks

before you put the x's back in id try a big *** box for 1 of the 15's with alot bigger port and see how that is
