how hard should they hit.

Yea, you're looking at the hifonics and such if you're going cheaper. I've also seen quite a few people recommend audiopipe and PPI black ice amps for people on a budget. From my personal experience, I would like to add audiobahn to that list. Another great option is to buy off this forum, people are always selling stuff - look in the classifieds section.
thanks man ill definitely look into the soundqubed stuff when i go to purchase. you've been very helpful. gonna either go for 1 of their hds300 or 2 of the hds200's and probably run em off their amp hopefully depending on how much power I decide my car can handle with a 240amp alt

Yeah don't get me wrong I don't like the rattle i just didn't know of a better way to show how loud they would be getting. I'll probably be going with around 1000w in the future to power the subs but the new alternator will come last
If you want shake the sh*t out of your car, tune it low (28-33hz) but honestly it wont be really loud to the ear. Tune around 36-40hz and it will not shake your car as much but it will be slamming hard.

Most of the times car flex is from low frequencies generally 37hz and under. Looks cool until your roof develops a crack..

for those soundqubed subs, try to get at least 2 cubic feet for each sub after accounting port and sub displacement.

I think tuning lower, about 32Hz, is still better for on all around setup. Roll off below tuning frequency is steeper than above it. Tuning lower just ensures you can reproduce lower notes, but you'll still be able to get pretty loud. It just sounds a lot more musical.

I dont understand why you want your car to "rattle", I guess I'm just getting old lol
Haha I'm not trying to rattle, i hate that sound, it was just the best way i could describe bass relative to me.

And ill be able to use as much space as i need for the box, m trunk is pretty big so i have the space

Depends on some people's tastes. You'd be surprised how many people dont care about hearing notes lower then 30 hz, especially classicals, latin, jazz, country, rock and blues where anything lower then 35hz is pretty non existent for the majority of songs and tuning that low really reduces the loudness of the upper frequencies that make those songs shine. Each sub can be musical at higher tunings but enclosure design has a lot to do with that. You can claim its flat but in a direct side by side comparison, its a pretty steep drop in the upper frequencies. When it comes to enclosure design, there's always a tradeoff.

2 - 12's in a sealed enclosure at 500w is enough to keep people at least 10 car lengths back when following me on the highway, it pounds the ground..You can expect to rattle windows for an 1/8 mile radius and it will no doubt make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside..
LOL serious or no?

In a ported enclosure, the port now plays the music, not the sub. Even if people don't care about notes below 30 (though I know I care), tuning to 40 and up is still very poor for a lot of music. I have a box tuned to 45Hz, it is loud, but it sounds pretty bad, especially with transient response. I just don't want the guy to tune it high and wonder why his music doesn't sound good. At 32Hz you can be very musical and plenty loud.
