How can I adjust sub volume independently?

I have an old head unit with no subwoofer controls and am interested in installing a sub or 2, but I'd like to have a dial/knob to adjust the volume of the sub so that I can turn it down (or off) from the driver's seat when i feel fit (independent of the rest of the speakers). What kind of device do I need to purchase to do this? Thanks.

Fader

use the rear channel as a preout and just fade it to the front more for less bass, back for more bass.

I'm most likely going to do that since i don't use rear fill anyway (and it's a free solution), but I'm curious. A friend of mine that did not install his own system has a volume knob that allows him to turn the subs all they way down until they're off, but he does not know what it is or where to get it. I'm just curious what that might be.

Probably an in line volume knob for the rca's

the amp i just bought came with a remote knob... i think that's what you're looking for..

another way would be to mount the amp under your seat with the gain knob forward so you could just reach down and turn it down.

and yes, some amps come with remote bass knobs, IMO not necessary. I like the fading idea, seems the simplest

the amp i just bought came with a remote knob... i think that's what you're looking for..

get an amp with a bass knob and mount it where ever you please, that will allow you to control the volume of just the subs and can be turned down all the way if you want
