Can’t adjust volume on pioneer radio

Hi everyone, new here. I’m trying to install a pioneer AVH-4200NEX in my 2016 Jeep Wrangler and I am running into an issue where I cannot adjust the volume.

I am using an idatalink maestro sr for steering wheel controls, which are working, and bought their adapter harnesses. I also have a brake bypass installed.

The volume is always at 12 and I cannot change it using the steering wheel controls or the radio controls and the mute button is grayed out. I did briefly have it working after connecting the 4 pin to audio connector from the sr to the w/r port on the radio, but after putting it all back together it worked until I started driving, then the audio started freaking out with the volume jumping and dropping. After that, I have not been able to get it to work again. I am able to access most menu items, just not audio controls, so I do not think it is the brake bypass, but I am at a loss.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for reading

I am having the exact same problem (volume stuck at 12) on my AVH-2400 NEX after replacing the car battery. Did you ever find an answer to this problem?
Please let me know if you did. Thanks, Earl Lord

I have seen this before. I don't remember the model, but we did a hard reset on it, and it started working properly. We pushed the tiny button on the face. If yours doesn't have the tiny button, read you manual to find out how to hard reset it.

Input to input, output to output. Idatalink Maestro. Black to long green wire on the parking brake bypass. Color to color all other colors. Input is the power wires or signal wires what ever the instructions says. Output is the black wire radio side harness. Black also to the idatalink maestro. That would be the output. Input is the long green wire from the pioneer side into the input of idatalink. And all others they give you as inputs in the instructions manual.

Last input of the day: Jeep Cherokee 1995 still has cassette. My aunty’s Cherokee but my brother owns the whole show. So I pulled the radio out just now. See pictures. Jeep grand Cherokee 4 wheel drive. Pop out lever on the radio. A little bigger than the pioneer
