Whats up guys? Been awhile since I've been here and I forgot my old username haha.

I have a 2001 S10 Xtreme regular cab.

I have experience putting together systems but haven't bought anything new since around 2007? Lol

I built a box for my s10 when I got it and shoved my two Memphis 12s in there.. However since then they have stopped working (I spent hours the other day replacing all wiring and it still didn't work, amp turns on but no sound to the subwoofers, and actually ended up putting a small hole in one of the subs so i decided fk it we'll start new lol) and I've realized i'm no good at box building lol.

But mostly I was wondering what on the market is best these days?

Looking for the best bang for my buck really.

I'm looking for two 12s and an amp, I already have a decent Pioneer HU.

My price range is probably from about 500-750 (not including box) but I may consider hitting 1000 if I fall in love with one of your combos lol

I'm thinking SPL.. If I have issues with the quality I will just upgrade my door speakers and what not.

I have been browsing around and I'm thinking about two SA12's with a Hifonics Brutus BRZ1700.1D or Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D

My original idea was two Type R's but I'm liking the feedback I'm seeing on Sundown a lot.

My only issue is the lack of mounting depth I have, the boxes I posted are 5.5" and the SA12's need 6.5.

I might have to enlist the help of some friends to build a better box than what I had before.

[oops didn't post the boxes because it won't let me post links yet]

here are the specs .. It costs $102 w/ free shipping

If SPL is what your looking for, look into DD (digital designs), American Bass, Lethal Injection, VVX. SSA

This is what I've gathered from this site, some subs you can get for as little as 200, and the prices go up from there, search the classified ads here or on ebay from a trusted seller. I'm sure if you check in about 8 hours you will have countless replys, better than mine, but it's somewhere to start.

Well isn't this funny. Man you set the budget high enough for the subs and amp you can get better than sa 12's. First off no to that box bullshit you are looking at you need someone to build you a custom box. Second off spl is most likely not what you want unless you plan on competing often. Spl is not the best for daily driving. I would recommend dabbing in sql with a sub more focused to the spl side than. Third what is your electrical like? You will need 1/0 wiring along with an extra batt if running more than 1500 rms in most cases.

I haven't done the big 3 yet, and was planning on adding another battery if needed. This is pretty much the infant stage of my planning lol

Also, you are correct on the SPL thing. I'm not really looking to do any competitions or I'd just get a blow through and my options would be much more open. However, I do still want it to be pretty loud.

What would you suggest other than the SA12's @murph?
Thank you for your input @murph
I'll have to look into those!

Any more ideas?

Dc audio level 4's, Incriminator audio Death row's (very nice), ssa icon/gcon, tc sounds epic and digital designs 3512.
Thanks.

I'm having a rough time finding a lot of these for sale though? Sonic doesn't have most of them and even ebay doesn't come back with much lol

Thanks.

Sonic doesn't carry subs of this stature. Sound solutions audio sells their own products on their site. Most you have to go through a dealer for, ask in a separate thread if you need a dealer.

Do you want Competition SPL? or do you want daily driver with good sound levels that take into consideration efficiency and distortion??

#1-Find the Amplifier power you need to accomplish your goals. If you just want solid, clean and efficient rated power, Plan a system that will operate at 2 ohms or 4ohms. Depending on the brand you decide on, Some amps are identified by their 1ohm rms rating, this is a decent indicator of stable build quality.

#2-Plan the Electrical upgrades needed (if any), then locate and acquire the upgrade items you will need.

#3- once you have electrical figured out and what type of power you will use, the it is time to find subs that will fulfill system goals and fit the space you have. Good subs are a dime a dozen, and should be the least of your worries at this stage in the game.

Too many ppl come here and get duped into buying a pair of high dollar D4 subs, then have to buy a dirty and inefficient el cheapo amp to run at 1ohms. Because they spent their money on the subs and neglected efficiency and SQ, they end up spending a small fortune in electrical upgrades alone.

The BRZ's are overrated. The Brutus BRE's do rated and are more efficient.

MSW | Car Audio Stereo, Car Subwoofers, Car Amplifiers and Speakers

The Crossfire is better built than most of the korean's you will find around here and they are underrated and probably the best quality for the $

Crossfire C51700D 1700W RMS Monoblock C5 Series Class D Car Amp

The Lanzar Opti-Drives are good solid amps that are underrated as well:

Lanzar OPTI2000D (opti-2000d) Monoblock Class D OptiDrive Amplifier

PPI will hold it's own.

Precision Power PPI S2000.1D Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier/Amp

RF T1000- underrated and efficient at 2ohms:

MSW | Car Audio Stereo, Car Subwoofers, Car Amplifiers and Speakers

there are many more good name brand offerings out there, if you are just wanting good, clean fun.
