Help sub doesnt sound the same

i have an 18" stroker svc, when i first go it back from recone the subs played well, clear and hard, now it doesn't seem like the same sub, i have it in my truck that u drive daily, I tried changing up the frequency tuning it but to me it just isnt the same, any suggestions?

What do you mean by the "same"? Is it worse sounding, better sounding, or just a "different" sound. Is it less loud or louder? It could be that it's "broken in" at this point and is just creating a different sound.

I would assume it's worse and/or less loud or you wouldn't have posted this. If this is the case, I am not sure unless you can tell us what all of the settings were on your amp, the impedance of the sub, what your amp is and how you have it wired to the amp.

it's less loud, as a result of being "broken in" what changes should i expected? it's a svc stroker, i have a old school rockford 800a2, i bridge the amp to 1 channel to power the sub, i have a kicker kx3 crossover also gain is up, the knob marked "punch bass" on the amp is all the way down. i dont know the poropose of that knob i think it's equivalent to a bass boost, i really dont know

"Breaking in" just gives a fuller sound, possibly a bit louder. You're using an xover on the sub? Why? Gain is up doesn't tell me much, don't use the punch bass if you don't have to. It is a bass boost and can only cause distortion and/or clipping. Um... what is the impedance of your sub (ohms)? You could have it on the wrong ohm load and/or not giving the sub the power it requires. That amp isn't that powerful by any means. You're lucky if you're pushing 900watts @ 4 ohms bridged.

I just did some research and I THINK your sub is 4ohm SVC and the amp does 400x2 @ 4 ohms bridged so you're doing somewhere in the ballpark of 800 - 1000 watts to the sub. I read that the sub is 1600w. They didn't specify if it's the RMS or peak. If it's the RMS of the sub, that could be the reason that you simply are not giving it the power.

I dunno though, wait until someone who knows more has some input.

what my researched said that it's is 1600 wrms the dual voice coil version 800 watt per coil, mines basically 800 wrms, according to my reasearch (may be wrong) the sub is singe voice coils. if my frequency is set at 65 hz on the kicker kx3 crossover and the boost is up half way(it isnt dont wry) that basically means that it's boosting songs with 65 hz bass lines? is it ok to use a little boost?

this could be totally retarted but your ears get accustomed to loud bass and you lose hearing when you listen to loud bass a lot...........maybe it just sounds different to your ears?

not it's not retarted it's valid, but i got the sub back i appricate all your guys help, also is the single voice coil stroker really 800 wrms? that's what my research told me
