help me tune my jl 1000/1v2 amp please

ok so i switched it to low and its so much louder now like really loud is that bad should i put it back to high?? i have a jvc kdr900 it says the sub amp is 5v on the specs

The maximum input voltage for the "low" setting is 2 volts. You are sending more than twice that voltage with your HU.

I'm sure it gets very loud, very quickly as you turn it up.....and it's going to clip before you ever get your HU to half volume.

It was explained to you to run the Switch on the HIGH VOLTAGE setting.

So now no matter what you are told you are going to keep asking and do something different.

What is the point in asking then?

That depends;

If you are going to use a DMM to properly and precisely set your gain, you want to use whatever setting that you intend to use regularly on your HU before you adjust the gain on your amp.

If you are just guessing at your gain, then you are safer just leaving everything flat. (No "loud")

ok so i set my gains today and i got it to 55 on the low imput voltage idk if thats normal cuz i thought my hu was 5v and i needed it to b on high voltage what do u guys think and also i had a question when i set my gain i have a sub settin onmy hu is the lpf level 0-8 when i put it on 0 it gets very low and the dmm wasnt reading so i set it on 8 while i set the gains tell me what u guys think

You are right - I was wrong
2) Input Voltage Range: A wide range of signal

input voltages can be accommodated by

the 1000/1v2’s input section (200mV – 8V).

This wide range is split up into two subranges, accessible via switches located in the

“Amplifier Input Section” of the amplifier.

The “Low” position on the “Input Voltage”

switch selects an input sensitivity range

between 200mV and 2V. This means that

the “Input Sens.” rotary control will operate

within that voltage window. If you are using

an aftermarket source unit, with conventional

preamp-level outputs, this is most likely the

position that you will use. The “High” position

on the “Input Voltage” switch selects an input

sensitivity range between 800mV and 8V. This

is useful for certain high-output preamp level

signals as well as speaker-level output from

source units and small amplifiers. To use

speaker-level sources, splice the speaker output

wires of the source unit or small amplifier

onto a pair of RCA cables or plugs or use the

**** i had mine set to low maybe i would have like it better lol eff it i like my newer system better lol

Input voltage needs to be set at High. You've been told this at every post. why do you continue to ask? SET IT TO HIGH. How the hell do you afford this expensive, high-end crap and you can't even understand basic instructions?

INPUT SET TO HIGH. You can probably put your volume a bit higher, I'd say around 35-38. Someone else more familiar with those HU's might be able to tell you a better volume, 40 may even be fine.

Now you want, 1000w*3ohm=3000. sqrt of 3000= 54.77. So with the DMM set to AC, turn the gain till you get a reading of 54.77 or 54.8 if you're lazy. It sounds like you had the DMM set properly if you got a reading of 55, but the AMPLIFIER needs to be set to HIGH INPUT. If you did all that, then you are fine.

If it is still not loud enough, I already told you that is not the kind of subwoofer to use if you want to "get loud", and you'd likely be MUCH better off with an entirely different woofer.
