help me tune my jl 1000/1v2 amp please

Here, this is what you do im a JL pro

Turn your gain ALL the way up, turn your bass boost ALL the way up and turn your bass mid range on your deck and crank that baby playing Bassiloveyou and videotape it for us so every one can see it POUND

ok i got .840 by touching the red inside and the black outside playin the test tone what does that mean
That means, with your current settings your head unit is putting out less than 1V through the preouts. As long as you keep those settings the "Low" setting is the correct setting to use on your amp, but the output will increase if you increase the volume, increase the bass, or turn loud on. So once you have the gain set leave the bass at 0, the "loud" off, and don't turn the volume above it's current level. If you are curious you can increase any of those settings and test the preouts again. That 5V spec in the manual is probably peak not RMS, the real RMS output is probably somewhere around 3-4V, but the only way you will ever see that is with everything maxed.

check your manual, it mentions subwoofer max switching, meaning that it is probably set on low voltage. imo, it sounds better running higher voltage, but if it sounds good the way it is, then leave it, just be carefull not to switch it over, without moving the amp to high and re-setting, as well

I think that's to balance your different sources relative to each other.

So if you play a CD and it's a certain volume then you switch to the radio (without changing the volume setting) and the radio is a different volume level (the sound you hear, not the volume setting on the HU), you can use that setting to "balance" your HU so that the volume stays about the same.

The bass boost section of the amp does that it lets you pick the center fq, the Q, and the amount of boost.

I would re-check your gain after you get the boost where you want.
