help me tune my jl 1000/1v2 amp please

What voltage does your HU put out?
I don't think you need to confuse him anymore.

No matter what voltage 2,4,6,8, or 10 volt the Headunit outputs he will still need to have the VOLTAGE INPUT switch set to LOW.

Now if you are asking him to help him set the GAIN ADJUSTMENT - well then that is totally different. However I think it would be easier to just ask him what brand and model of Head Unit he has.

***EDIT*** the above info I gave is not correct. The correct settings are listed in a post I made further down.

That's the purpose of that particular switch. There are two different ranges for the gain adjustment.

If he has an 8V deck, (I know that's not likely) he will get clipping with his gain all the way down on the "low voltage" scale.

You are right - I was wrong

2) Input Voltage Range: A wide range of signal

input voltages can be accommodated by

the 1000/1v2’s input section (200mV – 8V).

This wide range is split up into two subranges, accessible via switches located in the

“Amplifier Input Section” of the amplifier.

The “Low” position on the “Input Voltage”

switch selects an input sensitivity range

between 200mV and 2V. This means that

the “Input Sens.” rotary control will operate

within that voltage window. If you are using

an aftermarket source unit, with conventional

preamp-level outputs, this is most likely the

position that you will use. The “High” position

on the “Input Voltage” switch selects an input

sensitivity range between 800mV and 8V. This

is useful for certain high-output preamp level

signals as well as speaker-level output from

source units and small amplifiers. To use

speaker-level sources, splice the speaker output

wires of the source unit or small amplifier

onto a pair of RCA cables or plugs or use the

JL Audio ECS Speaker Wire to RCA adapto

a couple questions is the sub sonic ur saying the same as infrasonic and should i switch that on or off.. you said to put it at 30.. i heard someone saying to switch it on if you have a ported box

also output poloraity do i put that normal or reversed?

and for the preamp output section what do i put for all of that none of that matters where i put it even the switch where it says output mode full range amp filter or out filter? thanks again

I would keep the Bass EQ off.

It is a very dangerous setting (seriously - more people blow their SUBS by using the BASS GAIN than anything else)

That 1000 watts is plenty - you do not need any BASS BOOST.

As far as the polarity - well once you get all the other settings set right try changing it from Normal to Reverse while listening to the same bass line in the same song and you will hear that one way sounds better than the other way.

hey im going to try to set my gains but im confused about the impedence theres 1.5 , 2 , 3 and 4 which one do i try to match and what does it mean??
