Ok so I have an 84 El Camino with a sony //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif in dash deck installed. I am upgrading my audio system to a Rocksford mono channel amp with 300w rms running a Boston Acoustics 12" G2 300w rms sub. I am also putting a RF 2 channel amp (2x50w @ 4ohm) in to power my 6x9s. i have yet to buy anything besides the 6x9s so do you recommend me getting a more powerful 2 channel amp and bridging it to run the sub and the 6x9s without the mono sub amp?. i also am running 3 1/2" off the deck. anyways if i get the two amps how exactly should i wire this? should it be like the following diagram?

[battery]--fuse holder-----[dist block]--amp1 and 2

(fused)

I am going to use 4gauge power from the battery to the dist block and split to two 8 guages. The 8 guages should be able to run enough juice to my mono amp correct?. i dont need any speaker wire from the deck to the amps just rca cables? please offer any advice you have as this is my first personally done install. and should i just get one 2 channel amp instead of 2 separate amps? Thanks

and since your in a very combined space ,i would look at the mini amps like the massive nano series.and go with separates amps ,that way if one amp goes bad you still have one left

not that hard ,up towards the frt of the door under the window handle area is an area where you could do it .you may have to cut the metal a little but easy.on another note if interested i have a 800 watt rms massive nano n2 pretty new and some components too.myself and my teammate did an el camino a while back , 2 10s in a small ported box with 1000 watts on the subs and components in the doors with 4 inch coaxials in the dash .it sounded great. the box can be built to fit in the spare tire area and gives enough air space for 2 10s

im actually interested in that setup. I havent bought anything yet. all i have running is 6x9s off the deck with no amp (crappy). that setup is about exactly what im looking for. how did you get the 4" in the dash? the 3 1/2" pair i bought had to be forced haha. i am interested in the system you have though....

yeah i have 6x9 enclosures thrown back there. it was a temporary fix.. but, as you may expect, hardly any treble and very muffled quality. also running off the deck they get like 15rms max so they are gonna sound bad regardless.

You'll also need to run speaker wiring for the speakers, to the amp. You can either do this by running wiring directly from the speakers, to the amp. Or if it's easier, Just splice in right where the factory wiring connects to the HU. I'd also probably look at getting a new head unit.

But your power wiring diagram is correct, and the 4gague to 8 gauge should be plenty sufficient. Though, if you think you'll want room to grow later, it might be better, and cheaper in the long run, to just do a run of 1/0 from the bat to the distro block. But if you don't have any desire to get bigger or louder in the future, then what you have now will be more than sufficient.
