just fill up the gap with coil, keep the mmd/mms low. give it a fairly soft suspension and voila. you a have a very efficient woofer.

it will get its efficiency when it gets broke in lol(spiders getting loose)

A soft suspension and anything over 1500w and it'll bottom out...he doesn't need it efficient either if he has a 3400.

thats what i figured. i just figure bumping it up to 2500rms. i think that should be strong enought to handle the amp

You're doing something terribly wrong if you're bottoming out 18's on that little power

thats what i figured. i just figure bumping it up to 2500rms. i think that should be strong enought to handle the amp

Pick a 4" coil or something with a big enough gap for 8 layer if you want to see close to that for thermal power handling.

A hdc3 18 wont fit a 4" inch coil will it? If you u were quoting me this recone what would be your est shipped? I can drop it in myself

if you want a 4 layer d1 i have instock but checked and as of building drop in's last nite im currently out of 8 layer d1's but can order ya. if you want the 4 layer i can ship out in less than 48hrs but it wont handle ur power.

rabbit, was machining that kinda standoff many many yrs ago when DD was using 4 spokes, its ok cause i normally use a different type now thats stronger. just think its funny when the "best" copy lol...

They didn't copy. They had no idea who you were until I said something about you in a meeting when they needed a part prototyped. Any and all changes DD has made has came from Shaun's mind or Jassa's mind. Unless you are talking about AQ, then that came from China for the most part. As for anything DD releases they R&D it for several years before they put it into production models. So if you want to be technical you copied their R&D projects. lol

However, Shaun is now gone though, so I don't know what they will do. Guess it is up to Jassa to think of everything and get it working. Dunno...but Shaun was the mastermind behind many innovations for DD.

I wish AQ/DD would look at other companies some times. I couldn't even get them to do it. Only thing they ever looked at was pricing for 4" coil subs when they priced the HDC4. They wanted to be competitive..other then that they didn't care about anyone outside their walls lol.

All though it is funny that I tried hard to get them to do a larger 8" and even got a few test models built up and they said no...then BAM..there they are lol. I guess they changed their mind on the 8" market after all.

I have seen many other online companies "barrow" from each other though. Then the rest are built in the same build house and are almost exactly a like lol.

Sent PM. HDC3 won't fit 4", Dunno if it'll fit 8 layer. I only have 1 8 layer here and it's really huge. I wouldn't trust it to fit in your gap if I shipped it to you.

You might consider just ordering the HDC4 from AQ and putting the one you have up for sale. May come out to less out of pocket for you in the long run.

Don't forget to change the color of the stitching on the surround and frame too. That will fool all the buyers.

all the aq motors will fit a 8 layer coil but only some will fit a huge 8 layer coil...
