No I don't know what you mean, you said AQ soft parts are garbage, so tell me how AQ soft parts are junk. Considering you don't even know that an HDC3 = 3" VC, so a 4" VC won't fit, I'm assuming you're just repeating what you read on forums instead of basing that statement off actual experience.
I run an AQ3500 @ .5ohm daily on an HDC3 aluminum coil with NO issues. Majority of AQ soft part issues are operator error plain and simple. If you're blowing **** up figure out why as there is no magical suspension/coil package out there that's idiot proof.

I've reconed a LOT of blown subs over the last 3-4 years and I can tell you that AQ is far from the top of the list...

I have a d2 sub, by me reconing id gain from having better soft parts as well as running more power @ .5ohm. For daily ONLY in my setup the Aq as it sits is a kick azz sub in my book. I just want more from it

^ aq soft parts are ok for rated power once you double the power you stress them. its just most people see a motor that big and think it will handle gobs of power and it wont..

It is the same soft parts actually. The 18 didn't have a change other then maybe using less spiders in the pack.

The 15 and 12 now use a larger spider though and the new cooling from the new basket helps a bit.

diff spider pack, sub has lower fs. You would need the v4 basket also for your motor. Reconed 2 18's earlier in the year for a guy on my team, gained 2dbs...

what amp do you have? I'd get a 2nd and strap them at .25 each. Go with an alum v4 recone and basket. Should see a few db gain for sure...

I have the 4 spoke. My amp isnt strappable. Its a dtr1.3400. 3400Rms @ .5ohm(reconing sub to d1)What do mean different spiders the guys above said for my model they would be the same parts ext that i have now if i went with aq recone.

You would buy a new v4 basket that has better cooling and fits the new style recone. AQ has changed up the spider pack and surround. Guys above don't know everything. I speak to DJ at AQ quite frequently....

If chasing numbers I'd see about throwing more power at the sub for burps and look into box changes or another box. Tuning higher/more port area with a port reducer for daily.

That just means same spiders with less number of spiders in the pack.

If you want me to be honest, most guys that switched to the new style lost DB but enjoyed using them daily much more.
