Featured Plans for Custom Door Panel

The Stevens is not a small tweeter to mount; it is larger than the SB that came with the original "X" series NVX, which I used to own myself.

That "X" series woofer was a version of the SB Acoustics SB17NRX2C35-4, which does exceptionally well from 60hz to about 4k.

The crossover point is likely nowhere near 1.5k, closer to 3-3.5 if I recall.

The Stevens would be fantastic crossed at 3-3.5K as would either one of these much smaller options. especially the SEAS, a DIY cult favorite.

- OR -

Cross either of them at 3+3.5k, 12db (LR), 18db (butterworth or bessel) or 24db (LR) slope, golden.,

Hmm.. I'll have to look into this further, The reason I thought they cross at 1.5k is I saw a set of the XO's for sale on diyma and the seller as well as another poster said the xo point was 1.5k on these..

If it's higher then I have a few pairs of tweets that should work.

It's unlikely they are crossed that low
Probably closer to 3k

Pretty sure that the crossover is an LR at 3k. 6.8uf and a .42 aircoil on the xover network would indicate a 12db LR cross at 3k.

I appreciate all the replies; I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to car audio. from what I'm gathering is what I've got laid out is overkill but I'm kind of okay with that. the end goal for the car is to just be the music of the event. bring it to a buddy's forest party and let the doors open instead of our collection of JBL's haha!

I've seen replies talking about "crossover" and commenting on the usage of 2" 3" and 4" drivers, tbh I have no idea if that help or hurts me I just got an accurate measurement of the doors and fit as many as I could as its usually large functions so we're looking for volume over perfect sound quality.

mostly posted here to see what people said, or if it was even realistic or just a pipe dream

Wanna get loud totally doable
Just some of the sizes you chose may have been unnecessary

Bunch of sundown neopro 6's or 8's with a load of bullet tweeters will scream fiestaaaa at your forest parties

Using multiples of different-sized drivers can be fine, in an array or when each driver is tasked with frequencies that don't overlap or are the same, not easy to do with multiple drivers of different sizes/functions.

You can run into a real mess with cancellations, peaks,s and nulls, and that does affect the sound dramatically.

When you see multi-driver setups, they are almost ALWAYS tasked with the same frequency response. So, say two 8s, four 6s (pro-style drivers like the one shown) will all be tassked with the 120-6to 8k and the tweeters from 6-8k to 15k and super tweeters from 15k+

That is just an example; the actual application of the crossover frequency points is determined by other factors, mainly, what equipment you would use for setting the frequency bands each set of drivers will be responsible for.

What you never want is the 8s playing 120 to 4k, the 6s playing from 150 to 8k, etc. This is because, unless you have a DSP that creates a very linear bandpass output, you will see significant phase shift anomalies at all the different crossover points.

So, at the end of the day, it's doable, but like anything else, there is a right way to do it.
