Has anybody?

No reason why you couldn't, if you have access to tubing stock and a mandrel pipe bender...got a friend who's a machinist?
Otherwise, it's not worth it.
he told me this guy told him to buy some ducting from Home Depot....is that a good idea? i know its cheaper but it seems flimsy....

dont use the silver ducting that folds up like a slinky, you want it to be smooth on the inside, but yes ive seen it done well.

so is pvc the best idea?
and are the gains similar to premade intakes..even though that gain isnt much...
it would work if theres some way you could smoothe the joints inside it wouldn't be bad at all, it would be best if you had some material you could heat and bend to the countours that would be best, i dont recal what the one i saw was made out of

you might ask on honda-tech.com somewhere there a great resource for preformace knowledge

put one(pvc) on his old accord. It did make a difference, ghetto as fok imo.... but he was gonna spend like $300 on a $800 car. So he spent $2

I have seen them made out of pvc. Does it produce a gain like a pre made one> NO for a good aftermarket intake dyno testing is done to see what is the best idea. I would say if youre serious about the performane side and looks go with a real aftermarket intake

intakes dont add much horsepower really...if your really goin for the performance of an intake, sorry but you wont really gain too much, it will all roughly be the same. PVC piping can work perfectly fine, the only diff would be its resistance against heat. all intakes are almost essentially all the same, a cone filter on a tube, its all going to do the same thing. it will give you a good growl, while giving your car a little more pep, but your not gonna be able to do much better in the 1/4 or 0-60 with just an intake...so if you dont want to spend a lot just make one if you know how, or can learn to...unless you can find a cheap "real" intake. I got an intake for my car, growls, and gives it more pep, but sure as hell didnt make it faster, maybe a 4hp gain. i dunno about camaro intakes or much they are, but AEM CAI usually cost around 180 bucks for imports...

If an AEM intake only gives 4-6 hp. You actually think a pvc intake that is just one offed in a garage would make the same? There is reasons cheap products dont make the same gains as brand name ones.Mainly research in the design and dyno testing.

Actually, the amount of power you get from an intake depends on the restriction that the intake gives. Honda and Nissan intakes don't add much because the engine is basically as fast as itll get. Only around 5-10hp, if that. Whereas on an LS1,or a cobra engine, you will see vast gains in power.

He has a LT1, so most likely he will actually see a little bit of power by building one.
