True shit john! Nailed it!... I'm willing to bet no manufacturer would even participate.I personally have (3) DC power alternators and have run a few(if not all) of the brands that have been mentioned. The DC alts performed better in every aspect, including output at idle, max output, and reliablity. Rob said he is willing to do a head to head test, so that pretty much means, unless you prove you build a better product, quit wasting his time.
I edited my post... In other words I don't need to stir the pot anymore than need be. But maybe for the hell of it, one day I'll ship out all of my alts for head to head comparison.. But I could also do it localy tooEven though I'd have no idea what I was looking at would it be possible for a vid of one alt versus the other to happen? Or would it infringe on some patent or something to do that? Like it's one thing to say what an alt can do at idle and it's another to show it. Sometimes people need visuals.
I other words, I'd like to see the results of the post above mine.
I think Proximity pretty much covered it. EVERYONE claims to have a 'better' product. That's one of the facts of business.I don't know why you are riding Matt's nuts, but the fact of the matter is that Matt dissed Rob's products, when in fact, Rob is a customer of Matt's parent company. Sure Matt sugar coated it with "I would never say anything bad about DC", then proceeded to say that his product was better than Rob's. That is a //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nono.gif.eca61d170185779e0921b0faa9704973.gif in any business. He should have more respect for Rob since Rob sells his product (XS). This is a matter of business principle, not fanboy alliances.
I think you might be to only one who is not just reacting to comments on here. All competition is based something being "better" than another. Mechman wasn't coming out and just blabbing that rob's alternators **** (like people have said about mechman's a few times) he was just pointing out the differences in their approach.
Now is what mechman said valid? I have no idea, but he hasn't said anything outright disrespectful. (unless it's completely false)
I would love to have my information corrected but this is what I have to go on for now. I'm not saying there isn't more development involved in your units than just a rewind, but I would like to see what else you have available. That might be of use here. Please, don't rely on other peoples mis-information about our product and quote it for truth... Nothing personal towards you because I dont know you, but what you are saying is simply NOT true and your getting bad information..
See, the point here which most of you dont understand, is the product most of you are buying from most sellers, is exactly what they are knocking on one hand, a factory case, rewound stock unit, then turning around and selling you just that, just repackaged a different way...
The problem here is when someone says something, and it becomes an "internet truth", when in fact it's an outright lie.. Most times I will just ignore it, until it gets to the point when people who dont know about things, start talking about them like they do.. Then, I will come in and defend our company, and rightfully so..
You tell me when and where, I'll be there...
Quoted for truth!
Ok I am not the alternator expert, but since your talking about amperage then wouldnt the alternator belt only slip when the high amperage is being pulled? It would slip even when I had no system in my car.The belt isn't slipping on the DB unit becasue it isn't making as much amperage. The only thing that is going to cause belt slip on a bolt-for-bolt replacement with OEM pulley is the alternators additional rotating resistance, which will always be a by product of making big amperage.
i am sure each competitor has a each others product,
i want to see a dyno chart from both MFG for each of their products.
WWoorrddTrue shit john! Nailed it!... I'm willing to bet no manufacturer would even participate.
That would be a good way t compare alts. however you are asking someone to spend thousands to check out products and how they compare if the manufacturers would be willing to send some to some to test I am sure someone wouldn't mind to do the testing and send back the alts when done...Anyone can see a dyno printout of our alternators performance; we include one with every unit we ship. There have been many people who have posted up pictures and scans of their MechMan dyno sheet. I can't speak for anyone else's product, but our units do exactly what we rate them at or slightly more. If they don't meet spec, (which happens every once in a while) the unit doesn't pass quality control. Pretty simple really.
There really doesn't have to be any kind of back and forth regarding alternator performance and dyno shootouts anyway. Anyone can perform their own alternator test on any alternator with the unit still installed on the vehicle. All you need is a $120 DC amp clamp from Sears, and amplifiers (or some other load) capable of maxing out the alternator. Clamp the meter around the alternator charge wire (not the battery cable) and crank the system all the way up. The clamp meter will display exactly how much current is running through the alternator's charge cable. This test will work at any engine RPM. Obviously, belt slip, temperature, and cabling loss should be taken intoconsideration.
The reason why we build units the way we do, is because the style units we build have been proven reliable in Police cars for over 10 years. By our logic, if a unit can survive the type of loads and abuse that is seen in an emergency vehicle for thousands of miles, it should do well for our civilian customers. So far, this way of thinking has served us well. There is always more than one way to skin a cat- our customers have been very satisfied with out particular method.
Dude that's a joke... Most people I talked to like EA and DB High output, both said they will sell me one to test but not ship me one without paying, to test and send it back in. I've came to the conclusion that most MFG's are cheap, greedy bastards, I won't even bother calling Mechman as he just pretty much said buy one to test it. Then if you don't like it oh wellThat would be a good way t compare alts. however you are asking someone to spend thousands to check out products and how they compare if the manufacturers would be willing to send some to some to test I am sure someone wouldn't mind to do the testing and send back the alts when done...
