i got a 6.5" eclipse comp set with an eclipse amp (both in sig) im having a hard time properly tuning them. i tune it with music playing until it sounds good, when i change the song it sounds like shit. i have to reset the EQ everytime i switch a song. i never had this problem with my CDT's or my 04SS65.2 Kickers. is there a tune frequency i can play, kind of like Bass Mekanik only with my components instead of bass? im going to go disconnect my 6x9's, reset all my HU settings to normal, and reset the amp and start over. ill check back for responses when im done, see if i can do anything.

Note: i noticed my power and ground on my amp were loose. i had them in connectors but they slipped out, and are basicly just sitting on the amp, not properly secured. could this have caused the problem? wouldnt think so, just thought id ask.

Loose power connections will not make your EQ harder to get right. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you are having trouble setting the EQ correctly, one trick I tell people is put on talk radio (or a CD with talking) and set it from that (mid and high freqs). Its amazing how a person can tune a system with music till he think it sounds just right, then put on Rush Limbaugh or something and it sound very unnatural. The human voice, when speaking, displays many different freqs, pitch, timbre... alot of subtleties we easily recognize as natural sounding or not, when reproduced.

A speaking voice should help get you in the ballpark. Try it, then turn some music on and adjust abit more, fine tune it from there.

alright ill try that. i dont know whats going on... some songs sound like the volume is being randomly turned up and down. its very unnatural, sounds horrible. some sound as if the songs were recorded inside a large metal tube, or echoing room. i say that because im using the same songs i used when i tuned my other components. they sounded fine. now on this set, they do what i explained. blah

Best way to setup an EQ is pink noise and an RTA. That is if you have/can find access to one. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
