Give me some comment i just tested a subwoofer i am producing

Hi jdawg , would you be so kind to point out to me which part of it look retarded

Or is it the whole subwoofer itself ,

and also if you are able too , kindly show me something which you think is not retarded so i can have an idea what kinda taste do user have on the market .

while i got to agree my focus had not been on the Look , i hope the subwoofer is value for it performance not look ,

i am also considerign using a sand blaster paint surface on the basket , as i am testing on difefrent surfance treatment now , and also one that can last rather then just look good ,

many of the consideration is made base on the idea of keeping the design simple ,

Thanks you for your comment .

Just add a piece of cloth or something under the cone. It will change MMS though.

What kind of price range are you looking to sell these?

I think if you try to pull something in the $10-30 range, people on this forum will buy them just to blow them up.

Price wise i had not really consider ,

As for the tinsel , i had Zoom in one of the photo , if you notice i had apply a aero glue on the side of it to keep it there , and at 600 rms .. this is going to last a very very long time .

Thanks

Thanks you for the Point feedback , i will take to the with the engineer first thing in the morning , to get more answer and also on way to improve if possible ,

That a good point enlarging the surface , but that would depend on the spider , basket , and surrounding rim , and cone , as well as dust cap ,

The magnet and core as well as voice coil can be adjust easily ,

i had also consider mounting the tinsel on the spider . or attaching it the side using a thicker wire -

Thanks and keep the comment and question coming i will try my best to reply and if i can't i will try my best to find the answer for you as soon as i got it .

I was thinking you might be able to coat around the tinsel or something to keep it from hitting the cone without affecting mms. I dunno if anyone has tried it. I have never seen it done in productioon

we Tested the Sub last week and had no problem , _ But that is one point to be noted , any possible problem is worth the hassle to look into it

Hmm.. coating i will bring it up tomorrow morning and see what the response and maybe will test it coating it in a silicon base glue ,

the photo may not show a good angle . but the tinsel is really just right , It fix at and angle allow it to move but yet securing it and not allowing to hit the cone when operating at high RMS or low Hz .

But i would try to test it tomorrow

The last test we run on it .. rated at 600 RMS , we test it over 900 rms on the round speaker ,

AT 800 rms . it start to smoke ,

But that is just from the coating on the silver plated tinsel .

after almost 115 min . the sub came to a stop .

Due to a damage voice coil .

So i rate this sub at 600 RMS . i will do some adjustment . and make a few version to see how the response -

my goal is to produce , 600 , 800 , 1000 /RMS

while rating it at a Safe zone for user .

My logic is to over engineer the product so it last .

that is part of the reason why i had not price the sub , cos i had not caculate the cost of the parts i shipped in from different country .

But , one thing i know is that during the process of designing and engineering the sub , only parts and material of good grade and stability is choosen , rather then it look .

here is some material choice

Tinsel - Silver plated ( made in japan )

Spider- Cornex weaven ( material by dupont )

Cone - Non press Paper cone 4 layer

VC - Kapton voice coil former ( material by Dupont )

Frame - Extra Dense 1.4mm metal plate

Plate - Low carbon steel

Magent-Strong Strodium ferrite Magnet 100 oz(1.5 rated power input stability)

Pardon me if any parts you find it incorrect , my spell is not really that good .

so feel free to correct me or if i had place the term wrongly .

Well , that some strong view you got jdawg i am producing it in taiwan

cos i have the resources and people there to help me ,

so i disagree with you , that all taiwan product is shit audio .

I am sorry if you had got some shit product from taiwan . but price and product come hand in hand , if you want cheap you can't blame it lousy .

while i am trying to work out how i can make a Good subwoofer at reasonable price ,

i can;t discount the fact that there is alot of product out there just to make money and care less about user ,

all this is created by demand for people asking for cheaper and better margin in profit ,

but do not judge a sub by it look - a subwoofer can only be judge base on it sound .

not the look .

This is a worklog and process info exchange to get view from user and feedback much needed for me to improve .

you can get shit from many country - if you pay shit .

pardon me if my english is bad .

do have a nice day . and if you have a chance to test the subwoofer

i assure you . not over rating and no under performance -

once the sub is ready i will post a Video clip if i can gethold of a cam to show you the result and possible listen to it .

Many product is made in china and taiwan now . . is a matter if the fatcory tell or there keep it a big secret so you feel that is made in your country

Thanks for the strong feedback .

The sub is 600rms - as i rate it ,

meaning it would handle 1200 watt max ,

it been tested at 900rms non stop for 115 min before the voice coil got damage and stop working ,

would it be safer if i just rate it at 450 rms ?

i had not put anything on print yet ,

that is of cos when i consider producing this toy i have from the prject .

i am also testing a copper voice coil i imported from denmark .

hope i have some reading in a week or 2 time , the factory supplying me the copper voice coil . said it had no problem handling up to 2000rms - 2500 rms

now my biggest problem would be to match it with stable parts and corrct material as well as the glue which i think is very importance here .

This is a Photoshop idea version of what is coming next .

hope you like it .

as suggested i will enlarge the surround rim and also a larger magnet .

feeel free with suggestion comment and all kinda advice is welcome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The more beefy version will at least handle 800 rms -1000 rms .

will do a small survey and and tetsing to see which is a more stable and ideal power rating

Just order the larger magnet and will test it on monday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

hope i can get more photo up soon
