Getting ready to upgrade my system and wanting to know if I'm on the right path

I have a PPI-PC450 on mids an highs a fosgate prime P-500 on sub factory alt 125amp an dimming lights. I took of the big 3 last year when I took truck in to Chevy dealer to have work done

I'm taking out the fosgate amp, replacing the subs with sd-2 tens and putting a sundown 1500 amp in

Going to hook the big 3 back up an put in a h.o alt in. I don't think I will use the whole 1500 watts of the saz1500 I have run 4 volt pre out on radio's for years now and I don't have to turn gain up over .20%-30% I'm thinking even less with the over kill on power.

So I won't be using all 160amp current draw the 1500 will do. I'm using the PPI-pc450 to its max on 4ohms with out clipping. Already running a stinger 1/0 power wire, red top batt under hood

Do y'all think 240-250amp alternator will work for me with out a extra batt?

I just put fosgate p500 in last week an added a extra sub. before that I was running a 200 watt ten on a 200 watt amp I had no dimming of my lights

What's a good H.O alt for the money?

I would suggest an extra battery before the HO alt upgrade, a 2nd battery most likely will be enough

thx for reply, I forgot to say I think my alt is getting weak and I may have to replace it anyways

you will most likley need a 2nd battery so all your stuff is wired to the 2nd battery there is a great company here in Florida Tenney alternator here's the discussion

Put the big 3 back on. Last time I went 4 gauge this time I used 1/0 gauge. It really helped but its not going to be enuff

Come on I know I'm not the only one in here with a 03-06 gmc sierra. What alt did y'all use and what the experience you had?

i'm the tenney alt dealer on the forum here .we can make an alt that will fit in the stock location ,no modding direct bolt on and wiring

what battery you running? maybe get one with a better ahr.

also if you want a cheap alt upgrade get a larger one from the parts store for $150 for 145amps.
