gain settings... help

can someone tell me how to set my gains on my amp? i have an old volfenhag amp that puts out 500 rms bridged to both subs. i have my subs wired in parallel and they are svc 4 ohm.... i dont no the model of my amp but its one of the old white ones. its a 2 channel amp also.

simplest way to do it... turn your HU up about 3/4 of the way, with gains all the way down. Then slowly increase the gain until you barely hear distortion, then turn it back a notch.

A better way to do it is get a DMM and actually measure the voltage that the amp is adjusted to, but its not necessary.
