Gain setting... quick ?

Voltage = square root of (wattage*impedance)

so if i want 750rms at 2 ohms, correct voltage = 38.7?

i can't even turn my gain up that high... it's at 26v's right now and my gain is half way

I have my bass on -6 (of 12) and my sub-out on 0..

Pre-amp output = 5v

Is my formula right?

not correct cause of impedance rise...if your subs are 2 ohms nominal dont mean the amp is seing 2 ohms even with a steady test tone. might be seing 3,4,5 who knows till you test it. theirs plenty of tutorials on setting gains

did you measure a 5V output signal on the preouts? if not, i'd say the signal is too low. possibly increase the volume or levels on the HU to get a higher preout voltage.

5v is max and he isnt seeing anywhere near that. You're maxing out at 26 due to setting on the deck would be my guess. As he said the signal is prolly too low. Try turning up your bass and sub level. Not exactly a quick response //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Oh yea to answer your ? the sqrt of 1500 is 38.7

Voltage should be there though. Impedance rise won't have any effect on voltage, only current and total power going to the subs. What amp is it? Do you know for a fact that it will do 750 @ 2 ohms? Are you using a 0dB down sine wave to set the gain? Why is your bass set to -6 (if the bass EQ is centered on the same freq as your test tone, that will be your problem right there)?

because i used my speakers for highs only, they are stock and sound terrible with any bass...

My amp does it's rated power or close to it, so with the bass at 0, i have no problem reaching 38.7

Thanks
