Gain setting question.

I have a dual two ohm Kicker CVR sub, wondering how much voltage i should set my gain on. I have an Arc 900.6 KS powering all my speakers. Already set my other speakers gains, I just had a question on how to find the voltage for my sub, being dual two ohm does that make it four. Sorry if its a dumb question, just need some basic help. Thanks!

you can wire it to either 4 or 1 ohm.

your ac voltage you'll be looking for will depend on your final ohm load... so, take your rated wattage at said load, i.e. 100 x 1 @4 or 200 x1 @ 2...

to do the math, you take rated wattage x impendance ... then take the square root of that sum

example:

400 watts at 1 ohm

sqrt(400x1)= 20

400 watts at 4 ohm

sqrt(400x4)= 40

the sum of that is the ac voltage you will be shooting for when setting gain... so example one, you'll look for 20 volts ac, example 2.. 40 v ac

I really dont like my kicker, am going next tuesday to look and demo some better subs. What do you guys suggest for a good sq sub. I would like to stay with a 10" and in a sealed box. I have heard good things about dd. My shop is an authorized dd dealer. Would like to keep my one amp, the sub channel is bridged a 550 watts @ 4 ohms (Arc Audio 900.6 KS).

$399 retail for the Black 10" & $449 for the Black 12". Both available in D2 or D4.

Talk to your local dealer about ordering them. If you need help finding a dealer, just let me know so I can point you in the right direction!

Black 10"

RMS Power 400w

Max power with music 800w

Resonant Freq. 32hz

Mounting Depth 5 11/16"

Optimum Sealed Enclosure .75 cuft

I have ZERO gain if he buys one. I don't work for Arc, i'm a rep for lower Florida. He asked for a good sub, I showed him a GREAT sub that not alot of people know about.. It's all about informing the consumers on what's best for their $$$. No gain = no SPAM
