I have the infinity 611a amp, and I finally got around to installing the gain remote knob for it. I emailed Infinity to see whether this gain remote will override the setting on the amp itself, or if it will attenuate to the setting on the amp; ie: the 'max' on the gain remote control will equal where it is actually at on the amp.
This is the response I got from infinity:

Will someone take the time to dumb this down for me so I can understand what they told me?? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Thanks!By adjusting the limit setting of the gain control pot on the amplifier it will control the run out of the output control from the remote volume control. If the gain control is set to 50% at the amplifier, this will certainly allow the amplifier to produce its full power in accordance to the signal voltage from the source unit, but not allow the signal to over saturate the input which could eventually cause the amp to clip.
