wy wont you just set the volume just make a set volume? if u want it loud at 25, set the amps where they would be loud at that volume. thats what i did.

Instead of telling everyone they're wrong, or nothing will happen, then why not explain why you think nothing can happen?
Nothing will happen instantly, but if you plan on playing daily at full volume / full gain, then chances part of the system could fail over time.

Max gain can certainly be a good thing if a HU simply can't produce the output voltage needed, as long as you aren't inducing clipping. Clipping won't hurt your sub/speakers directly, however you are effectively increasing the heating effect of the AC output by turning the sine wave into a square wave. This coupled with at or above RMS rating could easily burn the VC. It will also sound like shit.

As for the DMM method for setting gains... There is much more to setting gains than just putting a DMM on the amp's terminals, as well as many different scenarios that will effect how the gain is set.

An oscilliscope is definitely a key component to precise tuning of a system. I wouldn't tune a system without mine.

While this will allow you to get full power out of an amp, and definitely gives a good starting point, I do not feel it is necessary to correctly level match components which is ultimately required with an sq vehicle.

Yes, the VLX and my newly repaired ProMos-450. I will be playing a cd and sound will be produced. Not for 10 seconds either...I'm thinking around an hour or so. This is making me laugh so hard though.

I'm waiting on my kick panel adapters yet //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. But however my reasoning is to set my gains easier. I won't have to screw with a DMM and I'll get full power out of my amps.

having your gain turned all the way up, which is normally .2V, and turning the HU up to 90% volume on an 8V HU...crazy.
