That's called infinite baffle, and it's a very acceptable installation method if your subs' design allows for it. Like any very large, low-Q sealed alignment it reduces the power needed to reach Xmax and increases low end response.
They need to be properly mounted and sealed to a baffle...either mounted behind the seats or on the rear deck, but yes...it works quite well. That's the definition of infinite baffle.Does that really sound like it would work? I dont think hes talking about infinite baffle, really.
