Free Air Or Sub Box

Im amazed at how many people in this thread seem to not understand infinite baffle setups, or that they are even a legitimate alignment type. IB systems can have amazing low end output, detailed SQ, etc.. if the proper sub type is used and the install is done properly. And yes, I could easily see someone describing that type of setup as 'subs in the back seat, trunk is the enclosure'... or would you rather assume the guy just meant plop the subs down on his seats and start cranking them? C'mon guys, obviously he's talking about an IB setup, cut him some slack. And if you don't understand or know much/anything about IB setups, dont knock em.

Generally, infinite baffle aka "free air" yields the least SPL potential of any alignment I'm aware of.
Actually, open baffle (aka, "dipole") setups are even worse for SPL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif But they have quite a cult following in 2ch home audio...
