for those who've used 18's?

I don't know. I was just working with a friend of mine that knew what he was doing at the time. This happend back when I got into car audio. I think I was 16 or 17 at the time. I was helping my friend build boxes and put equipment in.

Sounds to me like the 18 was in the wrong enclosure (way too small), and hence suffered performance wise.

I Just got off the Phone with My friend Tom he said that A) we replaced the 18 with a 15 of a different brand. B) we added 3 amps. C)the 18 only had one voice coil the 15 had 4 voice. and D)the 18s box was way too small. So just ignore my previous posts. He said an 18 is awesome and He recommends getting one.

No Tom Did. He told me it was SCV. I never seen the magnet. It was in the box all the times I seen it. I don't know anything about it. Tom sold it shortly after he got it for putting in that 15.

I am much better now that i don't work under Tom. I install for people that want me to install. I have a good repretation in Guilford for installs. I just got my facts mixed up. I haven't went to bed yet and I am tired. Sorry about that. It won't happen again.

the truck its going in is a nissan armada..so im really hoping i can put 4 18's in there?i noticed eclipse makes some amps too strongest being 4000 watts which may be too much because i go 1 amp per sub..there next is only 2000 watts which i dont feel would give those 18's there potential..so im lookin at memphis 2400 watts amp or mmats 3000watt amps..now with the third row seating i have 20 cu. ft but without the third row seating i get 56 cu. ft..im not to worried about the third row seating..so im sure 56cu. ft would be enough..

You need to find subs first. You cant 'assume' 4000 watts will be too much and 2k not enough if you arent comparing it to anything. RE MT's would take 2k daily no problem in the right enclosure. I run 2 visonik V4000xd's on a 16v system with 2 18" RE MT's and havent had one problem. This is all in the backseat of a truck too..so I pray to god you can fit 4 18's in an armada. Take a look at Steve Meades on ROE and Termpro..he's got 4 18's in a tahoe. Might help you out some.
