fofo mk1 install

Hi everyone,

Where to start in this forum?

So after the introduction its time to lay out my plan and see if i can pick up some pointers from the more experienced ones.

Whats in now:

Mvh 390bt headunit

Some 20mm2 cables

A rockford amp p200.2

Bridged to a rockford p1210 dvc

6x9 in front doors (unknown)

5x7 in back doors (polk)

All doors on the hu

(No isolation anywere)

As this is a upgrade considering i bought it completely stock, im not satisfied anymore and so quest began.

After seeing friends and cousins upgrading towards bigger inch subs, the more i wanna show that bigger isnt always better. ( my thoughts before the upgrades... only gotten stonger afterwards)

So my plan was to get a 8inch wonder sub and design everything around it. The jl 8w7 lost against the x8 v.2 from sundown audio and on paper, this plan got some motion.....

Strange as life can be..instead of buying the sub.. other oppurtunities passed by and now im the proud owner of a Hertz HP1D amp and even prouder of the Hertz Mille mlk2 compo set....(bought seperatly from different owners)

The quest of looking for a sub is still on but im now leaning more towards the ML2000.3

a thing to consider: still want some decent trunkspace left and the focus mk1 hatch does not have this in abundance. I dont think my 1st idea (6th order) wil fit and leave enough space so maybe just a ported box against the whole backside.

Waiting on a sweet deal, either the sub or a amp for the compo.

I have a Hertz hp4 in the waiting line but cant talk about it if it aint mine (yet)

What will be a suited amp for the compo?

Any suggestions for the sub?

Im thinking of installing the crossovers in the trunk..good idea? Problems im facing?

Any other suggestions are also welcome.... isolation will be done offcourse as wel as the proper cables

Greetings

Thanks for the reply Booming grandpa...

The Hertz HP1D = a monoblock, 2300 rms @ 1 ohm, 1250@2 , 700@ 4

The Hertz Mille mlk2 = a (top of the line) composet asking for 150rms. bi wiring is possible so thats why im looking for a 4 channel amp.

So the owner of the Hertz HP4 is not responding so i have to look elsewere...

A alternative that i've found:

Boss BL1600

4x180rms@4Ohm

Anyone that has experience with this amp/brand?

Or with the Hertz compo set and willing to advice on wich amp?

Or maybe with the Hertz HP1D mono? A recommendation of a sub will be a plus....

That brand is garbage....esp here in the states. People go after it because how cheap it is. Still got some suckers around. What brands are you able to get ahold of in your country?

The places i look for( mostly 2nd hand sites ) the most commonly brands passing by are:

-mtx

-kicker

-magnat

-boss audio

-kenwood

Sometimes u can find sum:

-helix

-dls

-soundstream

-hifonics

-phoenix gold

-hertz

-rockford fosgate

-digital designs

To my knowledge i need at least 150/200 rms on 4 channels for the compo.

Wich brand do you think is best for this?( doesnt have to be from the line up )

So the Phoenix Gold Xenon 200.4 is finally mine! Run zime tests and cant wait to build this idea....

So the one thing left is to find my sub, and i think im gonna stick with the sundown x8. Question for me is:

The dual 2 Ohm or the dual 4 ohm?

The sub is rated at 750w rms....

My amp : 700/750w rms @ 4Ohm - 1200/1250@2Ohm (2300@1Ohm)

First i thought maybe 4Ohm(700)...so everything will flow stable. But then... i thought, yeah but your amp should be a bit overrated in order not having to be pushed to its max so take 2Ohm(1200w)

Wich would be better in my case?

No thoughts about the impedance of the sub??
Or is the awnser too simple and i had to know this?
Personal preference, but I'd do D4 so if you decide you need an upgrade later you can add a second sub and run them to 1 ohm at the amp. Not like you HAVE to play it full blast, just use the gain responsibly and you can run as big an amp as you like on any woofer.

Thanks for your input Hispls... i will give it some thoughts.

Next week keys to the new house so all car audio stuff (buying parts) gets knocked down (a bit) on the priority ladder.

By the way... my pg amp has a full range aux output.

Does this mean i can run just 1 rca from hu to the trunk and then from pg amp to hertz amp?
