Hey guys,

I currently have a set of focal iss 165 speakers in my truck. They sound nice but I'm looking to upgrade a bit. A friend offered to give me their focal p165 v15 woofers with crossover, he doesn't have the tweeters anymore. My question is, can i use the p165 v15 woofers and the external crossover with the iss165 tweeters without breaking the tweeters or having it sound like shit? let me know what you guys think.

Thanks!

Find out what the tweeter impedance is on your iss165 and for the p series. It should be on a chart in both owners manuals...google the manuls. If they match you could try but typically one of of the key things you benefit from in upgrading a comp set is a better tweeter so that’s a bummer the tweeters were missing

I have been looking up those specs you were talking about. So far, it looks like the iss 165 set is a 4 ohm set but I cant find anything specific about the individual tweeter. The P165 v15 set is also 4 ohm set as well.

ISS 165: Processed Aluminum inverted dome tweeter Integrated crossover: 6dB/oct (woofer + tweeter) Max. power: 140W Nom. power: 70W rms Sensitivity (2,83 V/1 m) : 92.6dB Frequency response: 60Hz – 20kHz

P165 V15: Aluminum/magnesium inverted dome Separate crossover : 2-way 6/12 dB/oct (4.5 kHz) Ajustable tweeter level : 0 – 3– 6 dB/oct Max. power : 140W Nom. power : 70W

would the crossover differences change anything?

Focal flax is 8Ohm tweeter and 4 ohm mid. I found out the hard way. The tweeter is bright and needs a good dsp to control. I ended up swapping for Scanspeak d3004 and evil 1 ssa tweeters 28mm

sell the passive crossovers or throw them in the trash and run active networks. You can have anything work with anything as optimally as its capable of.
