Pretty straight forward honestly. Ill be pushing 2 12s on around 1600 watts. Is this enough to have to worry about any damage or leaks? My brain says the thing to do would be sound deaden the sunroof with as many layers as i can fit and then slide the cover closed and hopefully never think about it again. Any thoughts? I never use the thing so i dont mind covering it up in an easy way,

It's the sunroof mechanism that causes all the rattling. Deadening the glass isn't going to do anything. I stuffed a bunch of foam into mine in my TC. About to do the same with my Civic.
fair my thoughts were it might at least keep the cover from smacking the glass as it vibrates. But fair so expect some rattles, what about leaks? Looking at your builds it looks like you're pushing alot more than i plan to but i could be wrong. Its my first build in a decade.

It will leak!!! I had two 12's on 1K and that sunroof leaked... in the rain... with every thunderous sub-bass note and it was cool!!!

As long as you try not to slam the bass hard in the rain you will be fine. The glass will move and bounce and if it is dry out, worry not. If it is raining, park under a shelter and have fun. My first time making it leak was a car wash. Smelled good lol.

the amount of disappointment i just experienced reading this

I was going to say on a sunny day, open up the sunroof and it should hit harder. You really gotta feed some volume to it to get the sunroof to bounce though, honestly. Just avoid doing it in the rain, full tilt and you should be fine.
how do we feel about snow ;) jokes it doesnt snow anymore, but it wont cause perminent leaks?

What year and car was this on? im in a 2010 forester, not sure if that makes a diff

i guess itll also help having a bass knob on those rainy days. I had a jbl knob once and it smoothly turned the sub up and down, however my friend has a skar knob and it was basically an on and off switch

1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Two JBL P1222 @ 2ohms on an Alpine MRP-M1000 amp and an Alpine MRV-F545 on mids and highs. It doesn't seem like a lot now but it hit 145db on the dash.
i believe it ! i once ran 2 type rs and they railed. they didnt like the lows though. They went down one day and never came back up.

I never had any issues with leaking personally even walled on 8k ish watts rms. Good ole Zip Tape around the sunroof would fix that if you don't care about looks.

I would say just run it as is and fix if needed.
