I would say grab a decent 1200-1500rms amp. Audiopipes are cheap on ebay and most have had decent reviews. Others have used mb quart discus amps as well. They are decently priced. The SA-12s will do justice in a good enclosure, but they do cost around $200each shipped(I will check in a sec). I would say just subs and amp you will be around $550-600...so I think the $750 range is very possible.

right now you can get SA 12s for $390 shipped for two Sundown Audio SA-12 600 watt sub woofer

then you can buy this for an amp around $154 AUDIOPIPE AP15001D 1500W MONO D Audio Amplifier - eBay (item 230491334308 end time Feb-18-11 09:38:13 PST)

You would need the dual 4 ohm to wire em down to 1 ohm.

basically if one sub, you can wire it down by a half and if two subs by a fourth...thats how i think of it lol

Series add resistance. Parallel Multiply two resistances and divide by the addition of the two resistances.

Series: R1 + R2

Parallel: R1(R2)/R1 + R2
