Here's full details on everything I had to install and how/when I did it:

http://www.caraudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=166066

Problems:

1) getting some (physical) bussing around front speakers

2) back speakers distort at about half volume

3) Get a high pitched shrill that is equal to how fast my engine is reving, only when audio system is engaged. It's not that loud, but it's constant volume, so it's noticable when the system is turned down

4) After about half an hour of use, amp was hot as FUUUUUUCK

Current amp settings:

fronts: mid-high only

back: full

gains (both): 1/3rd

Possible fixes:

1) Dynamat/remount speaker/crossover/grille

2) Possibly cut out top of the back covering and just use grille for speaker (as it currently stands the top of the back covering MIGHT be touching the top of the speaker, which would interfere w/the physical movement of the cone.. possibly

3) NO CLUE - PLEASE HELP

4) NO CLUE - PLEASE HELP

Any and all help is appreciated. Keep in mind, I am a noob. This is my first install w/runnig wire. This is my first install w/an amp of any kind whatsoever. I'm sure I made some noob mistakes.

Thanks

- Power up driver's side, RCA's/speaker wire up passenger side

- my rear speakers are rated 110 RMs/330 max. Fronts are 90 RMS/270 max. Both are by the same company, so the ratings should parallel in due fashion

- Ground is securely fastened to it's own bolt on my trunk chassis

Where'd you run your RCA's? RCA's next to power wire FTL if that's the case. As for the rear speakers, turn the gain down on em. As for amp warmth, check your ground.
RCAs next to power wire only worsen the problem, check your amp grounds and HU grounds and make sure they are solid, scrape off any paint, etc.

I had alternator whine. RCA's for sub and speakers ran on one passenger side and power wire on driver side. Fixed it by running sub RCA with power wire and speaker RCA with all other wires.

I have no subs.. just speakers.

and I already said that the grounds were securely fastened.

You can see it on the top far right in this pic. I yanked on the bolt, fasteners, and connection to the amp. All very solid:

I wasnt asking if they were securely fastened, I asked if you had BARE METAL contact...trust me mine was scraped off but not enough apparently. After I installed the new amp I got some 60 grit sand paper and went to town....alternator wine is now gone COMPLETELY.

If that doesnt work, its the signal from your HU....youll need to run a new ground.

Edit: And please clean up your wiring, atleast a little //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

haha.. yeah.. I will clean it up after everything is in place. It already looks better tahn that.... but I had no intentions of leaving it that messy ;P

I see waht you're saying!!! I actually have JUST the sandpaper for the job. I'll give it a go tonight and let you know the result

I appreciate the help //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

definately move the ground from there. You have the magnet of the speaker to close to it. the whinning noise 9 times out of 10 is from a ground not making solid contact. Also, that is not metal you have attached to, most times that piece of the car is made from forges aluminium. (worked in body shop). See if you can find a bolt under the mat or find a good location clean it with sand paper and tap your own bolt. And don't attach it to any bolt connected to lights either! You might also want to find the permanent place for the amp (I suggest you find a way to bolt it to the back of the flip down seat) and only use enough wire you need, you kinda have to much slack on the wires.

I've never had a whinning noise because of the RCA's , but I've always use Fostgates and they state they help with reducing the noice. They might be extra insulated. I've always ran all my wires from the same side.

I've got stingers... so they are good RCAs.

And for the 1029385098th time.. yeah, I'm going to bolt the amp down, and clean all of that wire up.

BigSimon... thank you for actually explaining WHY it should be moved... that makes a lot of sense. I'm not just going to up and make a new hole in my chassis cuz someone gave me a three word reply to "move the ground."

I'm still learning here, and if I just did what EVERYONE told me to for no reason, then my car would be half jacked up, and my system probably wouldn't be working.. lol.
