Explain to me this. v. lowered cars

I remember when we moved my moms bf had always made fun of my lowered minitruck and how I couldnt haul anything (wtf does ride height have to do with hauling anyways). It was kinda of funny when I could lift a dresser full of cloths up about a foot slide it in the bed then lift the other end slide it in and it was in the truck when it took him and 3 of his friends to lift a smaller dresser into the bed of his big *** rusty 4X4 Dodge with big *** tires.
When the aftermarket shocks/bags are not as strong/stronger than the OEM suspension, it can sag and scrape. If your mini-truck is sitting on the bump stops and you still have clearance, then nothing should happen other than your ride quality suffering.

i was smacking my bump stops over bigger bump's and what not.. cut them out and rides way better!

Yes it is. The truck could get from point a to point b before the lift and the tires.
Now he's stuck with a lifted truck that wouldn't get 3 feet off road.

That's useless.
Sure the truck is altered only for looks, and I agree it is stupid, but it isn't pointless. As long as the owner realizes the point of his trucks is to "look good" and not be worth a **** offroad, then it isn't useless. It is, however, about as useful as a mini-truck.

Lowering ANYTHING that isn't sport oriented is essentially useless, but not pointless to a degree. See, that is why we have opinions. I think it is stupid to spend money on switches/bags/tubbing a vehicle out so it can drop lower, and that is my opinion. There are plenty of people on my car forum who think it is pointless to put a heavy stereo in my car after upgrading the suspension/engine/transmission for speed and handling. I think it just makes my car more well rounded.

Yeah, that is because your suspension isn't hitting rubber on rubber. The problem is that now your shocks will bottom out on bad bumps and you will blow them out quickly that way. That is what bump stops are for, to stop suspension travel before the shock itself bottoms out and gets destroyed.

i have a set of toxic shocks with bump stops built in just for that reson;) front and rear:p:

I respect the custom aspect of any vehicle, whether it be high, or low. My blazer lays flat on the rocker panel, and I have all intentions of buying a full size with a decent lift and larger wheels to haul it, it's all in the person that makes their opinion public, I love both styles.

Your definition of "hauling" vs. my definition of "hauling" are two totally different ways of looking at things. Sure your mini can hold a few things in the bed, but could you actually tow anything with it? IE. a trailer? Without a 10" raised receiver?

not to mention hauling something with any weight to it.

My dime can haul a car...I don't need much more hauling than that.
I think if one was careful My 96' F-350 turbo diesel dually could fit a VW bug in the bed alone. We like to use that mainly as a wood truck as with the 8' high bed we can get a little more than 5 chords of firewood in just the bed. When it comes to pulling something with mileage in mind we just use the 08 GMC 3500 HD. It's really funny how people think that diesels get shitty mpg, yet they can't believe it when I say it will get 26-28mpg on the highway. Have to love that new 6.6 Duramax W/ Allison ****** //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif computer has been played with a bit though hehe.

Can only imagine what one with a stock bed without the crane, air compressor, and boxes full of tools would get

Your mom's boyfriend is assuming your suspension bottoms out with the weight where as his wouldn't because it is higher.
