Perhaps you could lead the way by telling us all what you have owned and the stereo's you have had installed in them.Thought I'd start this one as tangent, but still talking about car audio.
What have you had in your "fleet"? Any of them full-out comp vehicles? Head and two? More?
Fire away!
Had a customer that had a 626 Turbo. He did home theater installs (even featured in AV Interiors), but no interest in car stereo. So we did suspension, exhaust, intake, EVC instead. Fun car.My favorite was a 1985 626 Mazda sedan. It was something I did Sq and Spl with competing Iasca. It ended up being plundered in the middle of the night sadly. I lost 2 Audio Art 100HC's and 2 CV Stroker 15s that night. Amazingly I got the subs back about 2 months later but not the amps, the Symmetry or most of the other gear I had installed. I really miss having those amps to play with. It was pretty musical and yet could do some pretty good numbers for what it was.
My 1st competitive car was a total sleeper and I loved it.
That's not bad. 280Z huh? What year?My first car at 15 y.o. was a 1966 ElCamino. 327 with a 3 speed and Hurst shift kit. Lots of Bondo. Cobbled together from junkyard.
Factory radio got replaced with a Craig and cheap 6 1/2" speakers in DIY door panels, which eventually got replaced by a Pioneer head and Pioneer speakers.
Next car was a Mercury Capri. I think the head unit in that one was an Alpine clone from Crutchfield. I remember the green buttons, but I know it was not alpine. Door speakers were either Pioneer coaxes or those green ones Crutchfield sold. And 4 Minimus 7s across the back. It got a booster/EQ, later replaced by a cheap amp.
Next was a Celica GT. Got the radio from the Capri, and new Pioneers (Crutchfield). I think this is the one where I upgraded the amp to an Alphasonic.
Next was a 280Z. Pioneer head unit, speakers, same amp. Bazooka tube. Headers, intake, 2.5" exhaust, port & polish, cut the springs, turbine mags, racing clutch.
About 12 more to go.
I had several. 76, 77, 79ZX Smooth, and multiple parts cars. That's not bad. 280Z huh? What year?
The term is slicktop for non T-top cars.I had several. 76, 77, 79ZX Smooth, and multiple parts cars.
I picture one of our old customers with his way-too-much Jheri Curl. He played for Lisa Lisa. The term is slicktop for non T-top cars.
I'd like to see these Z cars as I am quite the fan.I picture one of our old customers with his way-too-much Jheri Curl. He played for Lisa Lisa.
Def a slick top.
