Explain to me this. v. lowered cars

Why is it perfectly acceptable to lower a car or truck but yet as soon as someone lifts a truck, its labeled a stupid mall cruiser that's only built for show?

Off of the track, lowering a car/truck has no purpose. So then isn't it just for show? Why don't lowered vehicles get hassled bearly as much as lifted ones?
lol @ OT.COM title formatting.

I just got banned for 2 weeks for posting an aborted ***** in a non NWS thread. hah.

I for one don't care for lowered daily drivers. Makes no sense to me. Lifted is better to an extent when speaking of trucks.
lowriding is an art //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I've never been harassed, but my truck is lifted. Did someone tell you your truck is just for show?
I think the purpose of a truck is to be up high
To an extent.
My truck isn't lifted.
Its just a view that I've heard many people in real life and on forums say.
Those people are stupid trend following sheeple.
because lowered vehicles are driven by even some what normal people. lifted trucks are driven strictly by ******* wannabe tough guys, at least from my experience.
Nice general statement. Care to throw out some racial slurs too? I know plenty of lifted truck owners and not too many are the childish ******* you speak of. Maybe you don't understand their choice and automatically label them in your mind and don't give them a proper chance. Should I call you an unmotivated dumbass because you enjoy smoking weed?

Here's my theory: I believe people are brainwashed by the general crowd that they associate themselves with. For example, American muscle guys hate the Import guys because it's a general trend they're expected to follow. The import vs. domestic argument is further supplemented with stereotypes such as reliability, performance, and looks.
I for one do not believe in judging a book by it's cover, and I appreciate a car for the work that is put into it, not the label it's branded with. A true automotive enthusiast loves all types of cars and can respect the hard work that goes into building a one off piece of art. I don't care about how big or shinny your wheels are, but I do care about how dirty you get your hands through the process.
Good post.

Just remember the one smart enough to leave the snow belt for sunshine and pina coladas.

I like lowered vehicles too, I'd like to take a 2wd drive truck as a project truck, drop and bag it. The way I see it though is 4 wheel drive= lift it, 2wd= drop it IMO.

If you lift a 2wd, go shoot yourself. As far as comments I've seen that lifted trucks get worse gas mileage -- that couldn't be further from the truth. If you do a lift properly, meaning you re-gear your axles, you can actually improve your gas mileage.

Oh, and just FYI, just because you never see dirt on a lifted vehicle doesn't mean it isn't taken off road...some of us like to keep our vehicles clean, so we wash them after we play in the mud. Leaving mud on there eats the paint and causes rust...no thanks. I really don't care what people think though, because when they're stuck in the snow in their lowered BMW, I'm haulin' right by //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

While that may be true in some cases, most loose at least a few mpg. Even with new gears, some of those bigger tires are about as aerodynamic as a sheet of plywood and they can be alot heavier than stock tires/wheels.

My cars are lowered because it has always been what I have been into, I like the look of some raised trucks too but have to agree with the general idea that most people driving lifted trucks are azzholes. I can tell because they ride my *** no matter how fast I am going I am guessing because my car looks like a speed bump to them thus they feel inferior //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

maybe thats because it is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

seemed a lot of good posts in here and to each his own when it comes down to this stuff, its kinda retarded to get all standoffish about stuff like this unless its just playful jabbing.

For my truck I got 33's stock and still have plenty of room (rangers and even 1/2 ton trucks and such need lifts for just those tires. I am planning on a 4.5" lift and 35's (I can fit 37's without rubbing) this way I can still throw stuff in the bed and get in an out of it without too much trouble. For me the lift helps, as is I can pretty much go anywhere but with the lift I can get much more articulation and keep all 4 on the ground, plus the bigger tires allow to roll up and over things easier. For me the lowered guys are always buzzing around acting like azzholes, cutting me off (they think I'm slow and they are fast) or tailgating cause they feel they can stop faster or avoid me or even worse weaving in and out of traffic like its Fast n Furious, but after a while I just ignore them and let em be. No sense in being a dickhead back at em unless they really piss me off.

As I see things if its 2wd or a car then lower it (unless ya wanna be a freak, ever see a 69 camaro rolling on 44" boggers???) and if its 4wd lift it, just not soo big you can't get in and out of the bed otherwise you are now limiting your use to the vehicle.

Stock sucks for me, treat your vehicle right and make it your own if that means lifting it then do it, if that means lowering it then do it, but for me the vehicle needs to be all that it can be and not be too limited, otherwise its not just a toy. I will probably never understand bagging a car, or switches as people mentioned but hey thats me, and I'm not gonna rag on ya for doing it. My buddy is looking at bagging his truck but then he got into asking about how well it would all hold up to doing donuts and spinning around and such and started to get a bit worried, now he is looking at a static drop.

OH, and I enjoy all you lowered guys, I can see clear over your roofs for pulling out into traffic and such, I feel much safer being up high as I can see good and don't have to worry about someone blocking my view unless its an 18-wheeler.
