I miss my 13w7's until i use my sa12's lol not much difference between the two in sound.... Although I am a huge fan of the fat surround clean look a w7 has.

OP I felt the same way you do until I compared my 12w7 to a 12" SSA Icon. Never looked back since.

Even with all the haters, JL Audio surviving all these years with little or no advertising is a true testament to their product.

JL's can get plenty loud as all the other underground subs.

I heard two JL W3 13.5's on 1k that sound beautiful and got loud as fvck.

But are us cheap azzes going to pay the price for them? NO.

They have a rather robust advertising department. They also have a great dealer network. Those two things will go a very very long way.

I do have an 2 JL hd 750 running each sub. The hd was recommended, and glad I did. I live in the midwest, and to be honest, there are a number of subs I've heard of that aren't sold here by anyone. Kansas to be exact. I'm pretty sure our audio shops aren't what the west coast, or east coast are. In other words, I'm sure we lack diversity, and knowledge. Good bad or otherwise, the most highly touted subs are JL, Kicker, Fosgate, MTX, Alpine........... you get the idea. I have found one shop that sells Morels........ Heard they were good, but......... Anyway, we are a simple folk, and most go with the "name" before taking a shot on less heard of. One has to go out of state to even hit a show. It's sad really............

Don't get me wrong the w7 is a great sub but its only worth half of the actual sell rice at least in my opinion. My morels will blow it out of the water sq wise though. In out put yea it'll get louder than my morel but if I wanted a SQL sub something from ssa would be my choice. Either that or a sundown z12. At the 750rms power level I'd pick a dd2512 over the w7 personally. Especially since the w7 can't handle much more power over rated

No they can't. If they were just as loud people would use them more in spl lanes. The JL sub you're talking about doesn't even cost that much.

ive had alot of different setups over the past 10 years or so. i changed out my setup all the time and trading up to get a better sound. sq and spl. i now have 2 13w7s powered by 2 jl 1000/1 slash amps and i would have to say this setup is the keeper. ill have this setup in my truck until it falls apart. and when it does ill go buy the exact same setup. everything else just seems like a waste of money.

When doing competitions, people don't expect all of their subs to last every competition due to pushing them past their limit to get that score.

Do you think someone is going to pay the outrageous price of JL everytime they cook one? No.

Especially not in this economy. We are all poor fvks.

And did I say that the JL subs I heard were used in competitions? I know what I heard. I know what "good" subs sound like and bad. Just because they aren't the "Godly W7's" doesn't mean they can't get loud.

JL makes great subs, we all know that, they are very expensive and ask anyone who knows about making subs and associated cost, they will tell you that the cost is justified. JL makes their subs for a specific market and is very successfull. The w6 is one of the best subs ever made, ask anyone who truely knows about drivers.

Everyone knows huh? Did "everyone" tell you what precisely makes JL worth their asking price? What technology or features make their product better than other options for any given application?

I would argue that not quite "everyone" got that memo.
