DSP Help

So I'm looking to start playing with sound processors. This will be my first one so I need a little help choosing one. I really wanted to go with the JBL MS-8 because of it user friendliness and that it basically does everything for you but given that it has been discontinued it is really hard to find. So now I'm looking at these:

CORE-1 - 8CH DSP Unit – Massive Audio

https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/c-dsp-6x8

and maybe the bit one and some other suggestions.

Thanks for the help.

I love my MS-8 but if something goes wrong I'm screwed.

Since its your first one don't go cheap.

If you plan on using rear fill the Alpine H800 is the only option right now, I will say having that surround sound upmixer is really freaking cool

If not than the Mosconi, Audison, Helix is the ticket.

Maybe you just blew my mind!

We go to the drive in all the time when its nice out, surround sound upmixer sounds like that would be awesome!

It really makes the front more full. Depth is better.
Yes. I've been reading up on it and it seems perfect. The JBL was going to be nice because it set everything for me and I'd be able to get the feel for how everything was set and supposed to sound, but that is okay. I'll just keep tweaking away until I get it perfect.

You still have to do some EQ work after the MS-8 calibrates. Its minimal and the T/A is perfect
I almost won a bid on ebay last night for a MS-8, bids went crazy and it ended at $426. Looking now it seems impossible to find one for sale and I saw on a passed thread that replacement parts could be an issue, which is a very good point. I wish I could find one like it, but I've moved on.

The alpine looks good and it does match everything I have. lol But I've seen that you need the PXA-H800 controller in order for it to work. Is this true? because now the cost doesn't seem so appealing.

Yes you would need it

You will need the controller to even turn it on without a alpine compatible HU. Others you can use the HUs volume since its aftermarket.
Well I guess that stinks. I'm looking at an ebay bid war that ends next monday, if the price stays reasonable I'll get in on it but $750 is the cheapest I'm finding for the set which is more than I wanna spend. I'll have to really think about it unless we got any sellers on here willing to part ways for a reasonable price.

what a really good dsp but for not a lot of money?

would love to get a 360.3 or helix but way out of my range.

im running a ppi 88r and i like it, but have been bitten by the dsp bug..lol

and want more control.

Right now I'm on my first go at DSP. I figure the JBL MS-8 is a good place to start. Looking over some reviews and instructional videos it looks like it does give you some controls to an extent. After I have been bitten by the bug I'm sure I'll move on to bigger and better things. Plan is for this to eventually end up in my ladies car. She doesn't care about the adjustability but it sure would be nice to be able to give her some good pre amps for the subs. She likes the peaky deep distorted bass, I can't stand and must fix lol.

EDIT: I did pick up a JBL MS-8 but haven't heard back from the buyer.
