I recently purchased a 2016 Focus ST and chose the base package since I knew I would be gutting the sound system anyway. Well, I am getting a little impatient waiting for a dash kit to be made so I am considering options keeping the factory head unit. From what I have pieced together from this and various Focus forums, the factory head unit does some internal equalization at different volume levels. This has led me into the DSP world to compensate, needing I believe a DSP that can do "De-Equalization" of sorts. While this rabbit hole has presented a million questions, I have just a few for now that I am hoping you guys can help out with here.
This is the list of DSPs that I have found that do some kind of "De-Equalization":
Audison Bit One
Audison Bit Ten
JBL MS-8 (can only find used?)
Rockford Fosgate 3SIXTY.3
1. Are there any others I should be aware of?
2. From what I understand, after "De-Equalization", you don't touch the head unit volume again and you will need to use the volume control of the DSP, is this correct?
3. Is this about the only option?
