If you have to be Super Audio Man is it really worth it?

I just look at it this way I am not going to change your mind and the same applies for me chaining yours. I am just voicing my opinion and my decision never to try them again unless someone else wants one.
So you're not gonna change my mind and you're not gonna change my mind? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I cought that too.

I've been a hard core Alpine fan for as long as I can remember. Even before I started driving, I'd read about all the different HUs out there and I always started looking at the Alpines. I'd like to say my first love with them was the 7998, then models like the 9813, 9815, 9833, and 9835. I've never owned any of them, I just read about them and wished I could afford them, even though I had no car to put one in. The first HU I bought was an Alpine 9853. It was a great unit. The only problem I had with it was the face stopped opening. I guess they had a lot of issues with these when they first came out. Best Buy gave me another one under warranty. I replaced that with the 9855 when I added my 4 channel amp about 3 years ago. That remained in my car until about 2 or 3 months ago. I picked up a couple of older, cheaper Alpines for my trucks. I used the 7828, 9807, and 9827 in my S10. The 7828 was replaced with the 9807 because it stopped reading CDs. The 9807 was replaced with the 9827 because the source button quit working. The 9827 is still going strong in my cousins car. The only Alpine I'd like to get my hands on as of right now would be the DVA-9965. The 9887 does not impress me for the price. I love my 800PRS. This is currently in my car and I put the 9855 in my truck. There's a burned in image on the 9855, but that's the only gripe I have with that. It's not noticeable until you put it into blackout mode. I've had no issues with the 800PRS so far (knock on wood). I'm not concerned about the pico fuse as I do not plan on unhooking it while it's on. This unit is my first time straying from Alpine where I've had the choice to do so. Sorry for the long *** story.

Just use common sense and you will be fine, the pico fuse doesnt blow on its own //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Exactly. This is what no one seems to understand. It's also fixable once you blow it too. It's an easy, cheap fix.

I love that I am reading hit and miss stories about pioneer but bottom line there unreliable. Also I never blew my picto fuse just had noise.
My 800PRS has less noise than any of my Alpines had. That's the main reason I tried something different. That Ai-Net connection on the Alpines sucks.

Its funny this topic has come up, I have an avic n1 that i bought new and it failed on me about a month ago. certain buttons on the face would periodically stop working and then 1 day it wouldnt power up so i sent it out to be fix it just came back yesterday and now my steering wheel control dont work so guess what? Tuesday its going to be shipped out again. Then i come across an n2 also yesterday potentially free and it doesnt work either so i gave it back. So what is going on with Pioneer?

i've had at least 10 Pioneer/premier units...i finally give up too. I like old school rides, so the ground noise is a MAJOR issue..+ i just snatched out my 2nd problematic dehp860mp. i loved the pioneer adjustments, but i just run alpine now.

You are a patient man.

I'm sure every brand has issues with everything now and then. I've had a little trouble with Alpine, none with Pioneer, Ive seen Sony's crap out, Kenwoods seem to be pretty good, and I've even heard of people complaining about Eclipse. If you look around, you'll see that every brand has lemons. If you get 10 lemons in a row, of course that doesn't look good for the company, but you've got some terrible luck. Look at all the people using the previously mentioned brands with no issues whatsoever. There's way more people using them with no issues at all than with issues.

I love the Ai-Net hook up and the dedicated ipod connection and not having any noise or problems with alpine, I love them.

Ya they just do not have any problems and there slick looking as well. That pioneer one wheel for everything is kind of gay IMO.
