Dodge Dakota Build Log

Well i just got some $ today and obviously i want to spend it on the truck haha.

Looking into sound deadening... The only shit i ever tried was edead and yeah... that was cheap stuff. looking at some higher end stuff but **** its expensive.

Really dont want to spend more than 130$

Any recomendations? Second Skin is over my budget

Is it better to get a lot of cheap stuff and do layers or just get the good stuff and only do like 1 large sheet in the middle of the door?

I want to do all 4 doors, the rear area below the rear window, possibly the roof and floor

i got some rammatt b stock 60 sq ft for $118 shipped off ebay

they said it was rejected cause at like 130 degrees for more than 24 hours it would peel

but that stuff was the stickiest stuff i have ever used.

I love the RAAMmat product also. Using it in my Dakota install as well....

So i just got back from 3 day partying of my 18th B-day.

crazy few days... 2 trips on salvia and whew im done with that bisch

My tint arrived so that's pretty cool.

My buddy also gave me some fuses and cables cause hes dropping out of the car audio scene.

Ill most likely invest into RaaMat since it sounds like they have the most bang for buck.

i saw that sale of the raamat b stock ealier but i think in my area, temperatures easily reach 120+ inside cars and i don't want to risk it but maybe for the floor and rear?

got a killer headache but ill post back a little later hopefully

egay guy sent me the wrong tint.... well 3 of the pieces were correct but he sent me the club cab model instead of the quad cab.... who the **** drives club cab anyway?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

Well here is the rear tint applied as it is the only one that i can do right now.

The front side(35%) and rear side(5%) tint are for sale cheap PM me if interested

note: finally got rid of the aged PoorBoy sticker, looks cleaner now

w/out the old *** sticker..

I hate how once u drive it out into the sunlight you can notices all these tiny air bubbles..Most of them were taken care of. Ill have to pay more attention to cleaning the glass on the following windows. It is far better then my first time though:laugh:

Ok.... im not liking the sub up port up idea with the amps on front and batteries on side so I want to change it up.

Still looking for opinions from experienced users that know what sounds best in quad cabs.

Thinking bout keeping the ports facing up since that seemed to do well but I want to see if i can go sub forwards or on the side. What do you guys think?

Ok im 80% sure im going to remove the rear bench completely so that gives me PLENTY of space to work with...

the sub box will take more of a thinner/ wider approach so i will be able to recline completely with still enough space for amplifiers and batteries.

And well if I ever have to give more than 2 people a ride... well that's just a sacrifice ill have to make for my audio addiction.

off to making another 3d model

good log you got going here, and some very useful help/tips from other members.

one suggestion though, seeing as you have access to a welder and some good skills, why not try something else instead of completely removing the rear bench. would you be opposed to basically cutting out the middle seat of the bench (or installing 2 bucket seats) and just put an enclosure between the 2 remaining seats. i was thinking about doing something along those lines if i would have got my new truck, but im gonna hold off and get a tahoe. i always thought that would be cool but probably cost some $$$. in any case, gl with the rest.

so i got bored and hooked up my orion 2500 and my mt in its old box and managed to lug it into the car..

well holy flex ****...

haha well yeah it got pretty **** low but not as loud as i expected... maybe it wasn't getting enough juice... it sure drowned out those 4x 6.5's i have or it just stole their juice too.

maybe some vids later but ima rip it out 2night or 2morrow and start on the new box asap

not nearly enough for a 6.5 ft^3 box + 2 amps + 2 batteries =/those bucket seats do look awesome though, how did you do that?
If you ran the console from the dash to the back wall it could be done.

As for the rear seats, just used some U-channel and welded up some brackets at the right angle and used the stock mounting locations in the rear of the Dakota and then attached the U-channel to the seats mounting points.
