I *HATE* Eclipse decks. No removable faces and once the 1-year ESN "security" runs out, if you're head gets jacked, you're outta luck. Having personally used them before they went mass-market, I didn't feel I lost anything when I switched to Alpine. After playing with more heads, I've come to the perfectly rational conclusion that a head unit has no effect on "SQ." It's a myth. Pick your head unit according the how well its features meet your needs, any by that, I don't mean nonsense like RCA voltage. Pre-out voltage is pretty much absolutly useless. It's pure marketing BS. I mean sound processing and peripheral abilities, i.e. crossover flexibility, time alignment, satellite radio/iPod interface, etc. Whatever suits your needs will be fine. I think Pioneer makes solid decks, but Alpine and Clarion do as well and so do many others.
Regarding the stuff you have available locally, I see A LOT of good gear there. Internet brands aren't always better. They're just obscure. For example, Kicker's SS components are outstanding, as are Hertz products. The Hertz Mille might be one of the best systems available and the Hertz High Energy has gotten high marks as well. Definitely take a listen to those. The Alpine Type-X is a great set, as well. Very neutral and smooth. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I liked them a lot. Audison amplifiers are outstanding and Boston is a great brand in every direction. JL is solid, but a bit overpriced, I think.
You really have a far better selection than you think and I think you should give a good listen to the options you have available, if for no other reason than to see how they sound for yourself.
That being said, I think the system you sketched out is solid as well, but so much is going to depend on the install.
