My Birthday Present To Myself!

Well im everything has been going great at my job and i get a raise on Janurary first and another one in Feb after my A+ cert. so i figured by then i should be able to get my dream car, a Subaru Impreza WRX STi and i will be doing alot of work over the years of owning it, but of course i got to start with the stereo.

Just history about me:

My old F150xl had some decent kenwoods in the doors and back wall, and a 12" Kicker Solo-Baric L5 in a SPL 3.25ft³ ported box powered by a Kenwood KAC-7201, and i loved it for loud bass when listening to Techno and Rap/Hip-Hop (was to rumbly for rock)

and now my Ranger I currently drive, Here well it didnt have much room, and so i thought why not just get something that sounds great all around. and i did it. and i love the tightness of that sealed box, and how nice those lower hz are (below 40hz).

so both my ranger and old 95 f150 were both budget builds, but both performed great.

So i figured hell if im getting my dream car why not go ahead and start researching and planning for stereo for it, and i want that great sound quality and those tight hard lows. Love the loud bass for my rap/hip-hop and love the tightness and crispness for all the other types of music. so i figured i would go for a SQL build and put extra power in the lows department for when i listen to rap/hip-hop i can just turn up the bass, and for techno and everything else i can turn the bass back to a normal listening level.

so i gave myself a $5000 budget to work with, and since im planning on using this in shows after a couple years i figured lets do it right from the start.

here we go:

Deck: ALPINE IVA-W200

DVD/CD/MP3 player with XM Radio addon, and that flush mounted look is so nice (non of that fold out motion)

Front Doors: MB Quart Q-Line QSD213

5¼" Components

Rear Deck: MB Quart Q-Line QSD213

5¼" Components

Component Amp: ALPINE PDX-4.150

150watt x 4 @ 4Ω

Subs: Pair Of Boston Acoustics G512-4

A Pair of 12" 4Ω Subwoofers

Sub Amp: ALPINE PDX-4.150

300watt x 2 @ 4Ω

More Item:

1) Dynomatting the entire car (floor, roof, all four doors, trunk)

2) Hiding the MB Quart crossovers inside the dashboard (maybe the doors)

3) Component Amp - the high pass crossover set to 125Hz & gain @ 70%

4) Sub Amp - the low pass crossover set to 125Hz & gain @ 90%

5) The subs will be in single box w/ 2 separate sealed chambers @ 1.0ft³

everything so far will be costing around $4200, but i will be looking online and around atlanta for better deals when zero hour comes around in april.

Please share your feelings and any advice you have for me.

5 k budget and thats all u come up with?

i tell u the folks that joined in 06 got issues..wel some of them

let me put a system 2gether for u for 5k and u will be more than happy with wat u just posted.....from the looks of it..u going for sql....so i will pic a sub that get really loud in ported boxes

80

aside from the deck...i dont like the system myself...but it depends on what you want i guess...

i have owned 2 sets of mb quarts q series, a 2k1 set and a 2k3 set, i was in love with them and they gave me the comp boner for the longest time, until i heard the boston z's, they stole my heart from MB quart...but thats my ear...

ive only heard a few boston subs, and i thought they were mediocre for the money...but thats me...

love the car, my cousin runs rally with his sti, and hes got 2 other wrx's, both the same color as that one pictured...they are fun...especially taking turns at 80 haha

Give it to me guys, The Boston Subs i havent got to hear yet, but from the way the sales guy explained he said they would do the job great for what i need, im open for better suggestions.

And i am kinda torn between the high end Polks, Bostons, and MBs

Thats why i am starting so early on the research so i can go out and listen and plan way ahead. Because i really hate to do all the work and spend the money and the next day hear something that makes me wish i went a different route.

The decks a given, it looks so **** nice in the STi, and all my alpine decks have been good to me.

As far as subs the only ones i have ever used have been (Cerwin-Vega 12"(old vega series), Kicker Comp 12, Kicker CompVR 12", Kicker Solo-Baric L5, Polk Momo 8")

so that said, give me suggestions so i can start going out and listening to these choices.

5K budget -1K for the Deck. I need a good setup for 4K

For 4 grand in Subs, Speakers, and Amps, you can get some really nice stuff going for you.

Save about $250 for total wiring.

$250 for a new battery

And just spend the rest on some darn nice equipment.

i like the choice of deck and interior amp..

as said prior, you'll need a bigger amp for those subs..I'd say something with around 1000rms.

Lastly, please dont spend $500 on rear fill..If anything just get a good set of 2 ways around 100 bucks

I like the deck choice as well as the amp and speaker choice. Yea, you might be able to find alternatives for the price but how it sounds is very subjective and depends on install. Also, please dont pay retail on those alpine or MB Quart pieces, pm me and I can help you out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Heres some other choices for components

A Pair of Polk Audio SR5250 5¼"

A Pair of Boston Acoustics Pro50 5¼"

For Subs:

A Pair of ALPINE TypeR 12s

A Pair of Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 VQs

Does anyone have anything agaisnt using ALPINE or Kicker Amps?

So spend a bit more on the front components and go with some like good $150 a pair coxials for the rear? and the money saved spend on a bigger amp for the subs?

is it ok to run the rears off the deck amp? and just got with a 2 real nice 2channel amps (one for subs and one for front components)

Seriously, for 5 grand, you can get some hella better equipment than that. Check this forum over and find some better stuff. a better setup can be had for half than what youve got planned, but is sounds like you got tons of cash to blow, so its your decision not mine.

this is just my opinion:

I would change couple of stuff.

Deck: ALPINE IVA-W200 to Eclipse AVN6600 with Navigation

Front Doors: MB Quart Q-Line QSD213 to Rainbow Germs or Rainbow CS 275.27

Rear Deck: MB Quart Q-Line QSD213 to stock speakers

Component Amp: ALPINE PDX-4.150 to Zapco REF750

Sub Amp: ALPINE PDX-4.150 to Zapco REF1100.1

Subs: Pair Of Boston Acoustics G512-4 to 15inch SI MAG

For the wires go to http://www.knukonceptz.com

but if you wanna go one step higher i would change the zapco amp to ArcAudio SE amps and do a active 3-way in the front. and get 2 12inch MAGs or 2 12inch IDMAX.
