gotta remember that all a line driver is an amplifier - and thats it. And all amplifiers add a percentage of distortion into the situation.
I also think he's expecting too much. Sealed single sub applications are hard to get loud in the first place...being in a trunk is even worse.
But there is a silver lining of sorts, I say bridge the amp and use the 600 watts since sealed driver applications inheritly can take more power.
