After a very helpful thread I recently posted at caraudioforum.com, it's final decision time.

To bring you up to speed, I'm looking for a SQ sub in the range of $100-150. A couple years ago, I made the right choice when I bought the Adire Shiva. I would buy them again right now if I could, but they dont exist anymore. They were exactly what I am looking for now.

As of now, I want to order the TC-1000. Does anyone know where I can order these? I have been trying to get in touch with egoaudio because his thread in the Used for Sale forum, but have been unsuccessful.

So if I can't get a TC-1000, my second option looks like the Diyma 12 for $117. Does anyone know how much DIY Mobile Audio charges for shipping?

The RE SR12 is going for the least of all these subs on sale at $100 shipped from woofersetc.com The Alpine Type R is going for $132 shipped.

I'm going to ask one more time. To the people who have heard these subs, or have expert knowledge that they can tell from the specs and parameters which sub is better....Am I making the best bang for the buck decision in having these subs in this order? 1.) TC-1000, 2.) Diyma12, 3.)RE SR12, 4.) Alpine Type R?????????????

ps. If you recommend one of these subs, please give me the proper sized sealed box for the that sub. (cu ft)

SOMEONE ASKED:

What box size are you willing to fit?

What amount of power do you have available or are willing to purchase?

What frequency response are you looking for?

What output level do you want to achieve?

What sound characteristics are you looking for?

Are you willing to build a ported box?

I REPLIED:

I am willing to go as far as 1.5cu ft.

I have a kicker zx400.1 being shipping to me right now. Thats atleast 400rms, if not closer to 500.

As far as output, im not trying to win any competitions. This is for personal use, and I only wish to have the best sound quality. I need them loud enough to keep up to an $80 pair of components with like 50 rms watts to them.

I do not want to go ported at all.

I want to have a greater lowend then highend. When I had my shiva in a 1.5cu ft box hooked up to a jbl bp600.1, the low end was unbelievable. The only if any downside to that system was that the highend of it was slightly lacking. there was less punch then i wanted, and my component speakers didnt have a strong midbass and didnt go that low to begin with. I loved the low end tho. So I'm thinking a 1.25cu ft or even 1, would be great for my taste. So im looking for more boom then punch, but still some good punch.

Frequency response, perhaps 25-500.

IF THAT HELPS

where can I see the FI SSD? Do they have a website? my attempts to find fi products all bring me to soundsolutions but fi ssd is not listed in their product line for sale.

It's a little over your budget but it is a beefed up version of the Shiva you once owned.

If you're really tight on the budget, I would take this sub all day:

I own an av12 (which is very similar to the one in that link) and it's an excellent sounding sub that will work very well in 1.5 cubes or even a little smaller. It has excellent low end extension and output. I think John may still have a few left.

So you want a sub to perform like a mid?
Not at all. I want it to perform like a sub. By lowend, i mean at lower frequencies. I want the 25-100 hz so really be able to boom. Of course I want the rest of the frequencies to really bump too but if i had to choose between a sub that BOOMs (25-100hz) more or PUNCHES (200-500hz)more, i would rather BOOM. And then I would find a pair of mids that can go lower.

The new shiva is too expensive. Almost $200 shipped. and the AE looks great but I need a dual 4ohm VC sub since i have a kicker zx400.1 and i need the 2 voice coils to get the max 400rms. Otherwise, I would only be using half my amp.
