Will I need a HO alternator/ and or deep cycle battery?

I have 2 kicker 12'' kicker L7's getting 1100 RMS right now. My current amp is 1 ohm stable and I currently have it at 2 ohms. I plan on wiring it down to 1 ohm, which will then give the subs 1500 RMS. All I have in my car right now if a 5 farad capacitor. I dont have a deep cycle battery, HO alternator, or the Big 3 upgrade. Currently I'm not having any problems, just a little light dimming. Will I need a HO alternator and or deep cycle battery when I start to get the 1500 watts RMS?

Do the Big 3, throw the cap away (Caps are a waste and almost everyone else on this forum will tell you the same), yes you'll probably need a secondary deep cycle battery, and it would be a good idea to invest in a H/O alt.

Easy to say if you have an extra 500 laying around for an HO alt and yellow top.

I would say do it, see how your elec system reacts, and hopefully the big 3 will be enough. If not, then you might have a spend a bit of money to support the extra draw.

I am not sure how many amps my alternator is, but its the stock alternator for a 2000 jetta (4 cyl). Approximately how many amps would 1500 watts RMS draw?

You shouldn't have to upgrade anything.

I've got a 98 Passat with the factory 90 amp alt, and a factory sized replacement battery, with zero dimming.

The only upgrade I've made was the battery ground to chassis, because I had extra 1/0 lying around.

bcuz the resistance is under 4, probably 3.6-8 ohms...so two in parralel makes 1.8, although with the box included, should be over 2 ohms...u do realize that ull have to add 2 more subs to be able to wire it down to 1 ohm?if u add just one it will be 1.33(in theory) and 1.5-8 in practice
