Do I need a crossover?

I just wired my door speakers ( two 5 1/4 and two tweeters ) up to a 50x4 RMS amp. This amp lets you highpass two of the channels and lowpass the other two, so I put the tweeters on the highpass channels.

Now my 5 1/4 speakers rattle with certain songs, especially ones with lots of bass. Do you think I should get a crossover ( I'd be open to passive or active ) to stop the speakers from playing so low? Or do you think I am giving them too much power? I have the gains set at about 3/4.

the values you set them will vary based on the brand. If you have a response sheet you can set for the ideal. Otherwise, do it by ear and follow the guidelines below.

the highpass should be set for well over 2k

mids should not play anything under 70-80 and play no higher then 2k (low-pass at the same value as your highpass).
