Disgusting smell in car

well i took the cabin air filters out and though they smelled like dirty pet store they didnt show any sign of dead animal on them. ( mouse poop, hair, chew marks, blood )

I was extremely busy this weekend and didnt have a chance to let my cousin open up where the blower motor is to check if there was anything there.

is it possible the smell was just coming from the nest it made under my hood and if i change the filters all will be good?

didnt read the whole thread, but take out your blower motor and clean it out. It is probaly right in there.

dude it is like four screws should be right on the passenger side right under the dashboard. just unscrew the 4 screws it comes down and clean it out then screw it back in. I highly doubt you could **** it up 6 year old work lol

yeah, im leaving that to my cousin whos a mechanic. im not too comfortable taking apart a car.

you sure? my cousin talked about having to remove the windshield wiper assembly to get to it.

im pretty sure he was looking at his shops online service manuals when he told me that, so thats what the manual said. i think he was looking at them at the time, i could be wrong. he gave me the step by step on how to take out the cabin filters and he doesnt work much on a civic since he works at a predominently volkswagen/mercedes/BMW shop.

Its actually really easy. Take the glove box out. There should be 4 bolts that hold it on. You will see a white container directly behind where the glove box sat. On the bottom of that container your blower motor will be mounted. There is one plug that goes to the blower motor. There are 3 screws that hold the blower motor on. Now depending on your tools you may or may not have to pull the white container off to get the blower motor out. To take the container out you will find 2 silver straps that hold it on. There will be 4 bolts between the two straps. Just unplug the wires that go to that box and the cable that controls the vent (or wire for CRX's) and the box should slide right out and you can change the motor that way.

ur positive that instructions for a 2005 ex? i took the cabin filters out, which involved taking the glove box out and if i recall there wasnt anything white under there, it was all black plastic. i could be wrong, tomorrow ill take another look.

ok i cant find a exact instruction try google then your year and search blower motor. but take off glove box then the black pannel under will pop right off(clips) the blower motor will be right under there..fyi bout to start school at UTI in the winter. just look in the am or suttin. I am sure you can do it yourself.

most likely you wont have to remove the whole blower just unscrew the motor when you see it like a little white fan and clean all the junk out.
