yeah i bought it from tacosys.

i looked at dd's site, and they say you need purchase information, warranty card, dealer info, all types of shit... is it even possible to get a second hand DD reconed, without doing it yourself? and even then, assuming you can get ahold of a recone.

Call them up. They gave me a price on a 9515 D2 recone for $95 + shipping. You can send it in also and have them do it, but then you have to pay to ship the woofer to and from, pay for the recone, and pay for the labor. It also takes a while too because recones aren't their top priority.

Also, since you didn't buy the sub from them directly, you will have to email them pics to prove you have a DD sub if you want them to ship you a recone.

You have tons of options also - impedance can be anything between dual 0.35 to dual 4, and you go with the composite cone, paper cone, regular dustcap, or 6.5" or 8" carbon fiber dustcap. But shit can get expensive.

ok so i i think i'm gonna tackle reconing it myself and save myself a shitload of money. when i call them up, do i just tell them whats up, i have an authentic dd sub that i purchased second hand, or do i tell them i was the original owner and lost the reciept or something?

can i cut off my old CF dustcap and reuse it?

when i called and asked about a recone they told me they dont sell recones anymore because they want to make sure its done right. I hear that people that DD know and trust these people know wtf they are doing can get recones, but to the general public the answer is supposed to me no. So if you call up and randomly ask for a recone and they ship you one thats kind of messed up they tolf me no. but whatever. if you cant get ahold of one lemme know, i knows me a person or 2 on here if you cant find one yourself.

traded my g motor for a working btl 15 fully loaded. couoldnt be happier right now. dont get me wrong the dd is a superb woofer and is well worth the extra money. I'm just most content at the moment with my btl and kx2500.1 setup.

when I met up with tacosys to buy one of his blown woofers we seemed to have the same situation. after checking it out we found out that the tinsil lead had a fault right at the coil. Seemed like it could have been a cold solder joint maybe. Everything looked good on the woofer, still moved but no sound. I suggest you pull the coil out and check the coil resistnce at the tinsil leads then check it again directly on the coil lead on the former. just strip off a little of the protective coating and get a reading. I bet that coil is still good but there was a soldering fault

take a utility knife to the dustcap and try to resolder it..it's worth a shot of not having to pay for a recone!
