well i blew my 9518g today... was pretty ****ed odd, i beat the HELL out of that thing on a regular basis, today i left my house, played one song full tilt for about 3 minutes, switched to another loud song, turned my gain knob all the way down before it started hitting because i was coming up to an intersection. once i'm rolling again, i turn the gain back up and it makes 2 low thumps with a brief pause in between. i assumed a wire came loose inside the box or something, sounded like a loose connection that reconnected for a second.

woofer wasnt even warm, didnt stink... but neither coil is reading correctly now. cone still moves fine, no coil rubbing crunch as i move it by hand.

so, how much do recones run from dd, and are there any other options for getting one reconed? i can get it reconed as a d1 right? thinking about just buying a 9518g d1 and keeping this guy in reserve until i get a bigger amp.

amp is fine, no protection lights. neither coil on the sub reads correctly with a multimeter.

one coil wont show any resistance, other gives crazy readings in the kilo-ohm range

was this from tacosys? i think i remember one of his coming apart where the tinsil and coil connect, might be your same problem.....ask woofercooker he took it apart when he baught his blow one....

eh dont feel bad i ripped my screws through the basket at a show on wednesday then slipped with the screw driver cause there aint much room and poked a hole in the surround, which i can honestly say i havent done in 10 + yrs.....lol.... oh well i wanna recone mine anyways.....

If it has the Direct connect try putting the meter on the leads and moving them around at the same time.. If you dont get it to read any better then it prob came apart at the coil
