Deadening to SPL Gains in my Jeep

Have you tried rolling the volume instead of burping.I know that can gain a couple tenths as well sometimes.
Nope - the way it sits now the amp doesn't protect with a full on burp. Rolling doesn't gain me in this case.

In some of my other arrangements in the Jeep with the amps wired lower I do roll into it and I am louder since I cannot hit that volume level with a full on burp.

Once I am done deadening I will throw more power on it too and see what it really has in it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

sorry for asking but how would one gain from doing a roll on with volume?
You wouldn't, the only reason to roll a burp would be to keep the amps from kicking into protection. I can't see how you would gain with a roll, to a straight burp. Just eats voltage.

Yah deadening on the roof especially... will make your frequency higher...

I notice this in my truck when I first put two layers on it...

I think after my total 240 sq. ft. of deadening, my frequency when up somewhere from 6-8hz...

I like this thread. it shows how even the smallest little things you can try out can add more to your score. - I have some kind of weird idea in my head about making a viechle for spl use that is completely stripped away from soft goods, ( carpet - seat foam / vynil ext... )

and covered in sound deadning + fiberglass on the areas that are shaped weird, like your rear door - it has all kinds of nooks and crannys in it that sound waves could potentialy bounce in to and be trapped - vs if your door was completely flat ( like you welded on a piece of sheet steel over it - there would be a smooth transition for every piece of sound to bounce off and travel fowards. - theoreticly turning your car in to a band pass box. haha.

I wonder tho - having a car with full interior - keeping box position and all the same - removing all the carpet and headliner would possibly add what # to scores ?

I would think the "soft goods" in the car would eat up some of the sound.

carpet, seats etc absorb sound... think about it like a cave.. it echoes forever cause it keeps bouncing.. do it in a house and you might get some.. you get more when you first move in and its empty.. but carpet furniture and what not all absorb it..

Screwing a flat piece of wood on my hatch lost 4/10ths of a dB. I tried that as well.

Used 5/8" OSB since I had some laying around //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

i would think the glass would be a better reflector than wood which is able to absorb

did you keep that piece of wood you tried on there ?

if so - then try laying it up with some resin on it.

to make it "non porus" so all the sound does not get sucked in.

and then re apply it to your hatch stuffing the inside of it with massive amounts of towells

or something of the sort to fill the void inside there. duct tape all the filler in place so you can

screw in the board with out it all falling out on you.
