Hi,

Yesterday my sub just stop working, Focal Polyglass 40V1 16" with a RF 1500-1bd @ 4ohm, gains set by Oscilloscope using 50hz tones... So there was no clipping

I installed a old Image Dynamics ID12V3 and everything works fine, today I measured the terminals and the sub is not in short, is a "open circuit" infinite resistance...

So what do you think ??? What is wrong with the sub, the sub played perfectly until this disaster a dream sub, this is my 3rd sub and the first that stoped working...

I don't know the reasons for a open circuit, burned voice coil ?? Let me know and thanks

open= sub is toast //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I think focal would replace it or fix it for you.
I think they don't... I was overpowering my sub, like 650 RMS, just 400 Rated.

When I plug it, is completely dead!!! Do you think this kind of damage is fixable ?

I'm in Venezuela, sub bought in Panama... And focal doesn't have any authorized partner here

What do you think??? Just a big adorn???

congrats, good sub.
The focal had some fatal disaster like a lead broke or coil, etc. either way it was going to need a recone.
Have you listened to DIYMA Ref 12" ???

Are compared to SI Mag, so I'm considering maybe 2 or 3 sealed. Only .5 cu.ft per driver

From the reviews, the DIYMA isn't anywhere close in terms of output to the Mag, but it blends better.

Personally, I'd go with the multiple DIYMA's if I had the fronts to keep up with them.

I contacted a representant of Focal and decided to see some sub blood...

Conclusion: Toast coil, Recone needed... Waiting parts from france
